"We're Totally Snowed In", Most Roads In The West Fjord In Iceland Remain Closed After Heavy Snowfall
Most roads in the West Fjords are now closed after the heavy snowfall overnight. Snow ploughs will not be sent out until the weather improves.Our photgrapher Páll Stefánsson is traveling in the north and just sent us this picture from Víkurskarð, east of Akureyri, where about 60 cars are waiting for the road to open.
Many roads in East Iceland are impassable, while roads in the rest of the country are either icy or snow-covered.

All schools are closed in Patreksfjörður in the West Fjords due to heavy snowfall last night. An avalanche alert is still on in the small town. “We’re totally snowed in,” says director of the town council Ásthildur Sturludóttir. “I am tall but the snow reached up to my waist.”
The snow was very wet and heavy making it difficult to traverse. “This is going to be complicated to clear,” she said to mbl.is.

Parts of Trondelag have not had as much snow as of February 5th in 22 years.

Four Feet of Snow In Korea & Emergency And Closed Highways In South China Due To Heavy Snowfall
Korea set a snow record again for the second time in five years, over four feet of snow falling in parts of the Southern Peninsula. Also Jeju Island airport closed for three days and received most snow in 32 years.
