MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT: Societal Chaos And Civilizations Unraveling - At Least 16 Injured In Jerusalem Bus Explosion! [PHOTOS + VIDEOS]

Twitter: Danny Swibel

April 18, 2016 - JERUSALEM, ISRAEL - A bus has exploded in Jerusalem, leaving around 16 casualties, Israeli media report, citing emergency medical services.

The massive explosion occurred in Hebron Way, west Jerusalem, with police citing "a militant attack" as the probable cause of the blast.

Multiple social media posts show smoke coming out of the burned-out bus, which is standing in the middle of the road.

Initial reports indicated there were 20 casualties. Now Jerusalem Post reports 16 people were injured in the blast, with two injured "seriously," one "moderately," and five "lightly." The newspapers cite sources in the Magen David Adom emergency service.

Some of the injured were evacuated to Jerusalem's Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Others were taken to Hadassah Hospital nearby.

The bus was reportedly not carrying any passengers when it exploded, an Israel Police spokesperson said, as cited in the media. The casualties were apparently due to being close to the blast.

“When I arrived at the scene I saw two buses going up in flames and about 10 causalities among them, one who was mortally wounded and another in serious condition,” Mickey Cohen, head of the Jerusalem emergency response service, told Haaretz.

Jerusalem district police say the bus could have been blown up by an explosive device or targeted by a suicide bomber who detonated the device inside the bus, according to news outlet Arutz Sheva.

Eugenia Ugrinovich, a freelance journalist in Jerusalem, has told RT that the police confirmed "there was an explosive device at the back of the bus that caused [the] fire," saying the casualties were suffering from injuries typical for an explosion.

She added that Jerusalem will be on high alert with security tightened in public places for days to come. The bus blast was the first since 2012, Ugrinovich said, adding that lone-wolf attacks like this are very difficult to prevent and will surely happen again in future.

According to the police, the bus departed from the southern part of the city and arrived at Moshe Baram Street, when apparently an explosion was heard and the bus caught fire.

Suicide attacks on Israeli buses took place regularly in the early 2000s, and became a hallmark of the Palestinian uprising. In March 2002, a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a bus in Jerusalem, leaving 25 injured. Several months later, another suicide bomb attack on a bus in northern Israel killed 17 and injured 43, most of them IDF soldiers.

Violence between Israelis and Palestinians has abated somewhat recently after a series of stabbing attacks last year. At least 21 Israelis and 131 Palestinians were killed in that spike of violence. In early January, at least two people were killed and several others injured following a shooting at a bar in central Tel Aviv.

The gunman was described by an eyewitness as being "light-skinned and not Eastern looking," and as carrying an M-16. Further reports said the shooter, identified as 29-year-old Nashad Milkham, reportedly stole the gun from his father, who worked in the security industry.

The blast aboard the bus was caused by a bomb, Brachie Sprung, a spokeswoman for Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat, told Reuters: "It was small, but it was definitely a bomb."

WATCH: Jerusalem bus explosion.

Police say the bus explosion was a terror attack after bomb disposal experts found parts of an explosive device at the scene.

Ruslan Kandaurov, head of the Russian Embassy’s consular section, has told TASS that one of the people injured in the blast is an Israeli-Russian dual national, who is presently “in moderate condition.”

Jonathan Hessen, a political analyst in Israel, told RT that Hamas has already claimed responsibility for the attack, carried out in response "for the atrocities, as they put it, committed by the State of Israel towards Al-Aqsa mosque and the Temple Mount." He said that Israeli leadership is committed to retaliate against any threat to citizens, but added that it will not necessarily escalate tensions between Israelis and Palestinians. - RT.

MONUMENTAL DELUGE: The Latest Reports Of High Tides, Heavy Rainfall, Flash Floods, Sea Level Rise, Widespread Flooding, And Catastrophic Storms - Severe Flooding And A Tornado Leaves 7 Dead And Over 3,000 Displaced In Uruguay! [PHOTOS + VIDEO]

Floodwater in Uruguay

April 18, 2016 - URUGUAY - Severe weather has affected Uruguay since Friday 15 April 2016, with a tornado and several floods causing the deaths of at least 7 people. One person has been reported as missing and over 3,000 people have evacuated their homes.

The heavy rain began to fall on 15 April 2016, with a peak on Saturday 16 April. According to the Uruguayan National Meteorological Institute (Institudo Uruguayo de Meteorología, INUMET) as much as 180 mm in 24 hours was observed in Rocha, in the east of Uruguay, on the 16 April 2016. The same day 150 mm of rain in 24 hours have been recorded at the San José station and 140 mm in Florida, both of them in the south of the country.

Significant rain has been observed also on Sunday 17 April 2016, with a maximum of 121.5 mm in 24 hours recorded at Pasos de los Toros station in Tacuarembó Department, in central Uruguay.

The last update of the meteorological bulletin issued by INUMET, reports Orange Alert (level 3 of 4) all over the country, with heavy rains and severe wind gusts expected.

Tornado in Dolores

On the afternoon of Friday 15 April, 2016 a tornado hit Dolores, a town of 20,000 inhabitants in Soriano Department, close to the Argentinian border. Four people have reportedly died as a result.

The tornado reached peaks of 250 km/h, causing four casualties and more than two hundred injured. According to the National System of Emergency (Sistema Nacional de Emergencias, SINAE) significant damage to houses and buildings has been reported.

The Soriano area is well known for tornadoes, with almost a yearly occurrence, although usually in non-urbanised areas, where they develop without issue and causing little to no damage to the local population.

Floods force thousands to evacuate

As an effect of the heavy rain that occurred in Uruguay in the last 72 hours, water levels in the rivers have risen significantly and the number of people forced to leave their homes reached 3,663.

According to SINAE, 1,280 of them have been evacuated by local Civil Defence authorities. Displacement of people took place in all the departments of Uruguay, although mostly in Colonia and San José, with 1,228 and 1,250 people evacuated respectively.

Flood related deaths

At least three people have lost their lives while they were trying to cross flooded rivers or roads. One victim died in Rocha Department, one in Maldonado and one in Canalones. A fourth person is missing in San José, reported to have been dragged away by the water flow.

Flooding also caused 32 roadblocks, forcing also the closure of the national highway connecting the capital Montevideo with Sacramento de la Colonia and to Argentina.

GLOBAL VOLCANISM: "Incredibly Alarming"- Video Shows Increased Activity At Yellowstone!

Range and thickness of Yellowstone supervolcano's eruption 640,000 years ago.© USGS

April 18, 2016 - YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, UNITED STATES - Over the past week, our planet has been hit by large earthquake after large earthquake, and according to Volcano Discovery there are 38 volcanoes around the world that are erupting right now. We have seen a dramatic spike in global seismic activity that is unlike anything that we have seen in ages, and that is why what is going on at Yellowstone is so incredibly alarming. Geologists tell us that a full-blown eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano would have up to 2,000 times the power of the Mount St. Helens volcanic eruption of 1980, and approximately two-thirds of the country would immediately become uninhabitable. As you will see below, there are signs that something big is getting ready to happen at Yellowstone, and if it does erupt all of our lives will be permanently changed forever.

I want to share with you some footage from Yellowstone that was recorded on Thursday night. In this video, it appears to be as bright as day even though it is the middle of the night, you can see a whole host of geysers steaming violently, and Old Faithful just keeps going off over and over...

WATCH: Incredible footage from Yellowstone.

This stunning footage was posted by a YouTube user known as Kat Martin 2016, and the following is what she had to say about the video that you just saw...
There are places s(t)eaming I have never seen steam before.... and also note that the bright ground is back. There are no shadows, so it is not from above! As you know the cameras were froze up last night, so we could not see what was going ....or so we thought LOL...I found a way. Somehow (don't ask me how), the Geyser Observation Study site was able to capture the ENTIRE night with NO freeze ups and cutting in and is THAT? Anyway, I got it and slowed it down so you can see better. Old Faithful had weird seismos last night, and was going off constantly.
But it wasn't just that one night. The weird activity at Yellowstone has continued, and you can watch even more recent footage that Kat Martin has posted right here and right here.

So what does this mean?

I don't know, but watching that footage definitely got my attention.

And it is interesting to note that just a few weeks ago the Shoshone River changed color and started boiling without any warning whatsoever...
The Shoshone River, near Yellowstone National Park, suddenly and without warning started boiling, changed color and began to emit a sulfuric odor on March 25. Nearby witnesses wondered if they were "all going to die." The current consensus among geologists and other experts is that a portion of the Shoshone River began to boil, located near Cody, Wyoming, and a new Yellowstone vent has opened up.

As Mysterious Universe reports, the boiling river near Yellowstone runs just east of Yellowstone National Park. It is close enough to the park and super volcano to be a "canary in a coal mine" as it relates to unusual geothermic events. The event was initially recorded by Dewey Vanderhoff, a photographer who spotted the Shoshone River near Yellowstone boiling and noted other bizarre features in the river.
When a river located above a supervolcano that could wipe out most of the country starts boiling, you would think that would make headline news all over the nation.

But it didn't.

It would be exceedingly difficult to overstate the potential danger that Yellowstone poses to the United States. Other than an extremely large asteroid or meteor, it is hard to imagine any natural disaster that would pose a greater threat. The following comes from an excellent article by Steve Elwart...
The Yellowstone Caldera, or cauldron, sits on top of North America's largest volcanic field. Four hundred miles under the Earth's surface is a magma 'hotspot' that reaches up to just 30 miles below ground level before spreading out over an area of 300 miles across three states.

Over all this sits the volcano.

While most scientists believe the probability of a major eruption is very small, there are signs that have some analysts worried, and most agree the volcano holds catastrophic potential. It could blast 240 cubic miles of ash, rocks and lava into the atmosphere, rendering about two-thirds of the nation immediately uninhabitable, according to some estimates, and plunge the world into a "nuclear winter."
That certainly does not sound good.

And as I mentioned above, volcanic activity all over the planet is rising. 38 volcanoes are erupting at the moment, and it seems like we hear about another new eruption almost every day now.

But let us hope that Yellowstone does not erupt any time soon.

There are approximately 3,000 earthquakes in the area around Yellowstone every single year, so it is a very seismically active region. In the event of a full-scale eruption of Yellowstone, virtually the entire northwest United States will be completely destroyed. Basically everything within a 100 mile radius would be immediately killed, Salt Lake City would literally be toast, and almost everyone and everything in Denver would be dead in short order.

Further away, volcanic ash would rain down continually for weeks. Those foolish enough to step outside would quickly discover that the ash turns into a substance similar to cement in the lungs, and many would die from suffocation.

The amount of volcanic ash released by Yellowstone would be almost unimaginable. In fact, it has been estimated that a full-blown eruption would dump a layer of volcanic ash that is at least 10 feet deep up to 1,000 miles away.

Food production in America would be almost totally wiped out, and the "volcanic winter" that would result from a Yellowstone eruption would dramatically cool the planet. Some have projected that global temperatures would decline by up to 20 degrees.

In the end, the death, famine and destruction that we would experience would be vastly greater than anything that we have ever seen in the history of western civilization.

So yes, there is reason to be concerned that weird stuff is going on at Yellowstone right now.

Let us just hope and pray that we do not see an eruption in 2016 or any time soon. - End of the American Dream.

MONUMENTAL EARTH CHANGES: Seismic Activity Increasing - Scientist Warns Up To 4 QUAKES OVER 8.0 MAGNITUDE Is Possible Under "Current Conditions"!

April 18, 2016 - EARTH - Sunday's devastating earthquake in Ecuador might just be the beginning, according to a seismologist who says that current conditions in the Pacific Rim could trigger at least four quakes with magnitudes greater than 8.0.

Roger Bilham, a University of Colorado seismologist, told the Express, "If (the quakes) delay, the strain accumulated during the centuries provokes more catastrophic mega earthquakes."
A total of 38 volcanoes are currently erupting around the world, making conditions ripe for seismic activity in the Pacific area.
More than 270 people are now confirmed dead after Sunday's quake in Ecuador, with the number expected to rise.

In Japan, at least 42 people have been killed after tremors measuring 6.5 and 7.3 struck the southwest part of the country in the past week. A quarter of a million people were ordered to leave their homes amid fears of aftershocks.

Five years on from Japan's devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami, the country fears a repeat of the disaster which left more than 15,000 people dead.

Scientists at Tokyo University estimate there is a 98 percent chance that, in the next 30 years, Japan will be hit by an earthquake equivalent to the "Great Kanto"of 1923, which measured 8.9 and killed an estimated 142,800 people.

Seismologists at the Japan Meteorological Agency, however, put the odds of this happening at 70 percent.

Japan has some of the world's strictest building codes due to the amount of seismic activity in the area, with Tokyo getting rocked at least once a month.

Buildings may be able to withstand an earthquake, but as the 2011 quake proved, the ensuing tsunami can cause more damage including the nuclear fallout at Fukushima.

In the Himalayan region where 8,000 people were killed a year ago when a quake measuring 8.0 hit Nepal, India's disaster management experts from the Ministry of Home Affairs warned in January that another quake of that size was long overdue in the region.

Tectonic plates west of the Nepal epicenter remain locked together with scientists fearing the accumulation of stress will soon reach its elastic limit. - RT.

EXTREME WEATHER: Torrential Rainfall And Hailstorms Lash Southern China With Hailstones The Size Of Eggs - Four Persons Killed; Nearly 400,000 People Affected; Over 5,000 Evacuate Their Homes; About 903 Homes Collapsed! [VIDEOS]

Hailstones the size of birds’ eggs hit Hunan over the weekend, according to media reports

April 18, 2016 - CHINA - Four people have been killed after hailstorms, strong winds and torrential rain hit Hunan province in southern China, state media reported.

Some of the hailstones to hit the area over the weekend were the size of birds' eggs, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The storms have also forced about 5,000 people to evacuate their homes in recent days, state media reported on Sunday.

About 387,000 people had been affected by the extreme weather conditions by noon on Sunday.

About 903 homes had collapsed, according to media reports.

The China Meteorological Administration issued an alert on Sunday warning of more severe weather conditions.

There have also been floods and landslides in Hunan since mid April due to the days of heavy rains. Transportation systems in some counties have been paralysed.

Local media said some egg-sized hailstones had smashed through roofs and car windows.

Guilin and Liuzhou in the Guangxi region of southern China have also been hit by hailstorms.

Xinhua said the authorities were still assessing losses in the region. - South China Morning Post.

MONUMENTAL EARTH CHANGES: Major Planetary Transformations - Multiple Recent Powerful Earthquakes Reflect A Planet In Deep Transition!

The 'Pacific Ring of Fire'

April 18, 2016 - EARTH - Five strong earthquakes have jolted Asia in the last several days. There have been 16 major earthquakes measuring 6.0 or higher in April alone and nine in the last seven days. The two biggest in this unprecedented wave of serious shakers just happened over the weekend in Ecuador with a mammoth 7.8 earthquake killing at least 77 people and a 7.0 in Kumamota on Kyusha Island in southern Japan where three large earthquakes in three days have struck killing at least 41 people. Within the last two weeks the tiny South Pacific island of Vanatu alone has been hit with five major quakes. Four days ago a powerful 6.9 quake hit Myanmar killing two. And now with seven major shakers just in the last 96 hours alone killing at least 120 people, both laypeople and scientists alike are growing more concerned about what may be coming next.

On April 25th it will be one year ago since that deadly 7.8 earthquake in Nepal resulted in over 9,000 fatalities. But so far 2016 appears to even be more disastrous with seven 7.0 or larger earthquakes and 40 6.0 and larger ones already striking the earth's surface. The epicenters of over half of the most serious earthquakes within the last 30 days have been relatively shallow (within 20 km or less than 12.4 miles from the earth's surface), causing even more violent upheaval and earthly destruction. And all but a couple of the 20 largest earthquakes 6.0 or higher observed within this last month have erupted along the Pacific Ring of Fire in South America, Alaska, but mostly in Asia at a rate not seen in centuries, indicating cataclysmic earth changes currently taking place inside the earth's core and crust that could be reacting to cataclysmic changes occurring within our solar system causing the Pacific tectonic plates to be simultaneously rupturing in multiple locations under intense built up pressures.

In 1973 there were only 24 earthquakes in the US measuring over 3.0. Between 2009-2015 the number has jumped to 318. And just in the central US alone during the first three months of this year the number of 3.0 or higher quakes have soared to 226. Scientists at the US Geological Survey (USGS) believe that human activity account for this enormous increase of relatively minor to moderate earthquakes in recent years. Whitewater disposal at traditional oil and gas wells are said to be the biggest culprit according to USGS, even more so than earthquakes caused by hydraulic fracking. An increase in so much seismic activity induced by the environment-wrecking energy industry that the USGS now has two distinct maps, one showing manmade earthquakes and the other naturally occurring quakes. The extent to which manmade earthquakes impact the magnitude, frequency and location of natural earthquake zones is believed to be minimal in America since manmade quakes are predominantly in the central US (specifically Oklahoma) and natural earthquakes lie mostly along California's San Andreas Fault line. In addition to the most populous state California, now seven million more American citizens in six central US states are at increasing risk due to the oil and gas industry. With knowledge of deep drilling actually causing earthquakes, a controversial project from a team of seismic scientists from the University of Cardiff has proposed for the first time in history digging into the earth's mantle just below the crust at a location in the Indian Ocean where the crust has undergone erosion and the middle layer making up most of the world's inner mass is deemed most accessible at three miles deep from the ocean floor. But because the area is known for its active seismic fluctuation, opposition to the deep drilling fears that it could unleash a major earthquake or volcanic activity. In May 2013 a massive 8.3 earthquake ruptured a full 600 km (near 373 miles deep) in the Sea of Okhotsk producing a major impact as if the epicenter was much shallower. Concern is that the ocean water pouring into the mantle could lead to catastrophe. Thus many conclude the scientific gain of studying mantle material dwarfs the potential dangers especially since manmade earthquakes are posing an increasing environmental threat causing even more earthquakes.

There is another more controversial manmade cause of some larger earthquakes in recent years. There is mounting evidence that electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapons developed over the last quarter century can heat up known fault lines over targeted areas to cause tectonic plate shifts. The Fukushima disaster, the Chile and the Haiti earthquakes in recent years are suspected to be EMP induced. This diabolical military use of weapons technology has been uncovered through significant spikes in temperature readings just prior to those unnatural earthquakes. Weather modification and the infamous HAARP technology can pinpoint targeted fault lines using the electromagnetic pulse beams bouncing off the ionosphere and generating concentrated heat for several days on a targeted active tectonic plate that then triggers major earthquakes. The notorious geoengineering spraying of heavy metals used potentially as electrical conductors is believed connected to this destructive technology as well as serving as an obvious soft kill weapon for human eugenics purposes by the ruling elite. What does all this unprecedented seismic activity mean? Noted seismologist Roger Bilham at the University of Colorado is warning us about increased risk of earthquakes. In response to this latest barrage of strong seismic activity he commented:

The current conditions might trigger at least four earthquakes greater than 8.0 in magnitude. And if they delay, the strain accumulated during the centuries provokes more catastrophic mega earthquakes. Despite last year's devastating Nepal earthquake, the Himalayan region is said to be overdue for an 8.2 earthquake according to disaster experts at India's Ministry of Home Affairs. The Indo-Burmese plate is colliding with the Himalayan plate causing major stress. A study released in Nature Geoscience said the Nepal quake:
Failed to rupture the locked portions of the Himalayan thrust beneath and west of the Kathmandu basin because of some persistent barrier of mechanical and structural origin.
An increased earthquake frequency is often accompanied by rising number of volcanoes becoming active as currently 38 around the globe are spewing ash clouds and molten lava.

A mineral physicist named Friedemann Freund conducting research at NASA is exploring a way of providing ample enough warning time at least 24 hours prior to an earthquake. His theory involves detecting ionized air near and just above rock along the San Andreas Fault and in Alaska. Freund has confirmed that "whenever there was a moderate or big earthquake there was indeed a large increase in air conductivity." His Global Earthquake Forecast System attempts to measure infrared radiation produced by tectonic stress.

Those believing Nibiru/Planet X is hurtling closer to the earth carrying mile and a half wide asteroids, comets and meteors that are causing major changes within our solar system would conclude it to be behind this frenzied seismic activity. Sightings of both Planet X and massive asteroids are frequently spotted by both astronomers and amateurs alike these days. With more reputable scientists taking Planet X seriously all the time, the latest pair expressing concern that it could destroy life on earth come from Cal Tech. The sudden increasing mass die-offs of countless animals are taking place on a near daily basis, the extreme weather events being witnessed all over the globe such as snow in Southeast Asia, the erratically high seismic activity recently observed at Yellowstone National Park abruptly taken offline and most recent nearby Shoshone River boiling in places where sulfuric acid vents more volcanic activity from the deep underground caldera, there is no doubt many profound and mysterious changes are occurring at an undisputable skyrocketing rate. Rapid changes have been discovered at the earth core that are linked to electromagnetic changes at earth's surface. So the influx of recent earthquakes and volcanoes are merely consistent with the powerful changes unfolding from both inside as well as outside the planet. Obviously destabilizing human events and developments occurring within the corrosive, crumbling political and economic system reflect the much larger transformation occurring on the earth and entire solar system and beyond. - SOTT.

RATTLE & HUM: Mysterious Sounds Heard Across The Planet - Canadian Man's Investigations Into Strange Sounds Heard Woldwide?! [MAP]

People around the world say they are hearing a mysterious drone that has been dubbed The World Hum.
© Low Frequency Hum Sufferers/Facebook

April 18, 2016 - EARTH - Glen MacPherson first heard the Hum in 2012. He was in Sechelt when he detected a low-level drone that he thought was coming from nearby float planes. Over time, he started to realize the Hum had nothing to do with planes and tried to figure out what exactly was going on. So, he did what most people do when they have an unanswered question: he Googled it. He found out he wasn't alone. MacPherson discovered an online community of people who say they have been hearing a mysterious drone that has been dubbed The World Hum.

"Much to my surprise, it turns out I was one of the people who can sense what seems to be a very unusual low-frequency sound," he said.

Four years later, when curious people like MacPherson Google information about the Hum, they come across his website, The World Hum Map and Database.

MacPherson, a schoolteacher in Gibsons who has also worked as an instructor at the University of British Columbia, says he wanted to apply a measure of scientific rigour to this unexplained phenomenon, so he created the database to track reports from people around the world who say they too hear the Hum.

MacPherson has heard from thousands of people from locations as far as Iceland, New Zealand, Kazakhstan and the Philippines. The data, he admits, is skewed since the site only reaches English speakers. He plans to the translate the site into Chinese, which means he could get a flood of new data from the world's most populous country. He says if you look at the data he has accumulated, a few things stand out.

"I caution anybody who looks at the Hum Map to not be distracted by the high concentration of points on the Eastern Seaboard of the US and, in particular, over in England. Over in England, it would appear that they're being absolutely clobbered," MacPherson said.

He also notes that Vancouver Island has a "significantly higher concentration of Hum reports."

The World Hum Map and Database Project. © The Hum Info

So what is the Hum?

MacPherson says the Hum may be a relatively recent phenomenon, with a significant number of reports first emerging in the late 60 and early 70s.There are three major theories as to what is causing the Hum. The main suspect is very low-frequency (VLF) radio emissions that are used by the military to communicate with submarines.

"When I say VLF, I'm not referring to sound," MacPherson said. "That leads to another striking and startling conclusion, the fact that the Hum may not be a sound in the traditional sense. It may be the body's reaction to a particular band of radio frequencies. That's not an outrageous idea. The concept that the body can interpret certain electromagnetic frequencies as sound is reasonably well-established in research literature."

Another theory is that the World Hum is "nothing more than the grand accumulation of human activity" that could include noise from highways, marine traffic, mining, windmill farms, hydroelectric dams and other forms of industry.

In 2014, a federally funded study confirmed a humming noise in Windsor, Ont., known as the Windsor Hum, emanated from an island across the Detroit River. An acoustic monitoring study showed the rumbling was real and reached Windsor from heavily industrial Zug Island in River Rouge, Mich.

However, the investigation - done by scientists at the University of Windsor and Western University - failed to pinpoint just what was causing the phenomenon. A third theory is that the noise stems from geological processes at work.

Then there's the idea that people who hear the Hum are just suffering from tinnitus, a medical condition that results in a ringing of the ears. David Demings, a University of Oklahoma professor who was one of the first researchers to examine the Hum, noted that "Hum symptoms are distinctly different from classic tinnitus. Tinnitus is typically a high-frequency ringing sound — not a low-frequency rumble."

"What I always like to point out about tinnitus is that it's self-reported," MacPherson said. "There is no external metric for it. If we believe that tinnitus is real, then the question is what differentiates it from reports of the World Hum?"

There are plenty of other more far-fetched theories out there, and MacPherson has heard them all.

"Whenever you're dealing with something unexplained, it invites all manner of people who have creative ways of interpreting reality," he says diplomatically.

Part of his work, he says, is using his science background to separate plausible theories from crazed conspiracies that circulate online.

"It's plant life, it's huge boring tunnel machines, it's weather projects, it's aliens," he says. "At least we didn't hear about the Illuminati."

MacPherson understands that some might think that he is no different than some of the conspiracy theorists who visit his site. But he says his dedication to the scientific method is what separates him from the tinfoil-hat crowd.

What's in the box?

A recent article in the New Republic outlined MacPherson's experiment with a so-called Deming Box. Named after the professor who first delved into this phenomenon, the steel box is designed to "create within it a VLF radio free space." If a person who can hear the Hum gets into the box and no longer detects the noise, that could suggest VLF radio waves are the culprit.

Shortly after the article was published, MacPherson got inside the box to see what would happen. He said he got "mixed results" and plans to move the box to an undisclosed location on the Sunshine Coast and try again.

"If I get a positive result, I've got a handful of volunteers on the Sunshine Coast who can hear the Hum and who are ready to go in as well," he said.

He also plans to continue maintaining the database, which he says has helped him connect with people who are also looking for answers.

"There are large numbers of perfectly sensible, everyday individuals and this is what we all have in common. We can hear this noise." - Global News.
