WEATHER PHENOMENON: Breathtaking - Sea Of Clouds Cascading Over Mountain Like A Waterfall In China!

February 25, 2016 - CHINA - Nature lovers were given a treat when this sea of clouds rose majestically over a mountain before sliding down the side like a waterfall .

This breathtaking video shows the fast-moving clouds sweeping over the landscape as the sun rises on the horizon.

The stunning spectacle took place early on Wednesday morning over Mount Lu, in China's Jiangxi Province.

CCTV News reports that the incredible formation danced around the mountain top for several hours, attracting a large number of people with cameras.

Orographic clouds happen when air passing over a mountain rises and cools, until the vapour condenses into a formation and moves down the other side.

A similar phenomenon occurred last year in Iceland and was captured on a mobile phone in all its glory. - Daily Mirror.

WEATHER PHENOMENON: End Of The World - Bizarre, Dark And Menacing "Bubble Cloud" Formations Baffle Onlookers In Telford, Britain?!

May 14, 2013 - UNITED KINGDOM - The skies above Telford formed into dark clouds which turned into grey and imposing bubbles and resembled the advent of an alien landing.

The clouds formed into large and imposing bubbles (CATERS).

The imposing clouds left onlookers questioning their existence and how they had formed.

In fact, the clouds, known as the lesser-spotted mammatus - appeared as a lobe and were packed full of ice and rain.

According to local forecasters the clouds created a large thunderstorm which drenched much of Britain over the weekend.

The clouds are associated with the powerful storms which can sometimes occur in the summer and are a sign of massive quantities of water vapour.

Phil Spencer, a 39-year-old truck driver from Telford, was left baffled by the sudden change in the weather.

The clouds usually form ahead of giant thunderstorms (CATERS).

He said: I went to Morrisons and looked up and noticed all these weird and wonderful shapes in the sky. It was only there for five or 10 minutes and then just literally went as quickly as it came in." - Express.

SIGNS IN THE HEAVENS: Solar Halos - Heavenly Pictures Show The Sun Ringed By A HALO Over Tibet!

March 15, 2013 - TIBET - Looking at these pictures it is perhaps unsurprising that a new Pope has been elected.  Thanks to a rare phenomenon the blazing sun has been pictured over Tibet looking as if it is wearing a halo.  The bizarre bright ring also makes it look like as though a huge eye is in the sky.  Also known as a 'sundog', a solar halo is a distant cousin of a rainbow caused by sunlight shining through a thin layer of cloud called Cirrostratus, which is made up of millions of tiny ice crystals.

Angelic: This incredible halo around the Sun was captured by a Russian photographer as she travelled across the Tibetan desert.

The thin cloud cover is up anywhere about 9km above sea level where the temperature is between minus 30C and minus 35C.  The spectacular images were taken by Russian photographer Elena Belozorova who spotted the extraordinary sight while driving to Darchen city.   The 38-year-old from Vologda said it was a truly magical moment.   'I have seen lots of things in my life but I've never seen anything like this before,' she said.

How they form: Also known as a 'sundog', a solar halo is a distant cousin of a rainbow caused by sunlight shining through a thin layer of cloud called Cirrostratus, which is made up of millions of tiny ice crystals.

The phenonemen is officially called a pathelia but is also known as a 'sundog', 'halo' or 'mock sun'. The sight is more commonly seen when the sun is low in the sky and not in the middle of the day.  Cultures around the globe have traditionally given great significance and meaning to a sun dog when they see one.  In medieval times and early aboriginal forecasting halos were a sign of rain on its way - with rain predicted for Friday when the halo will disappear.

'We were stunned': Miss Belozorova said even her local guides were amazed to see the halo form.

Portentous: Cultures around the globe have traditionally given great significance to the phenomena.

'The light in Tibet is very special, it's fantastic. I've never seen such colours in the sky before. It was all so clear and vivid,' said Ms Belozorova.  'The sky is very changeable, every minute there is a different light or pattern.  'We saw the halo as it was created and transformed. We were stunned.  'Even our guides were totally amazed. It looked like a huge eye and occupied half of the sky.  'It almost looked like the entrance to another world.'  - Daily Mail.

WEATHER ANOMALIES: Rare, Bizarre, Giant Tubular Cloud Rolling Across the Sea of Brazil?!

A photo taken near Brazil captures a rare and beautiful "roll cloud," a tubular cloud that seems to tumble across the sky. The spectacular photo, captured last month, was just released by NASA's Earth Science Picture of the Day blog.

A roll cloud, associated with thunderstorm downdrafts and strange sea winds, tumbles across
the sky off the coast of Brazil. Roll clouds are rare and harmless, though ominous-looking.
Roll clouds are a type of arcus cloud, which is a category of low cloud formations. Their more common cousin is the shelf cloud, often seen on the leading edges of thunderstorms. Roll clouds sometimes form along with storms, too, born out of the storm's downdraft. Sinking cold air causes warm, moist air on the planet's surface to climb to higher altitudes, where the moisture condenses into cloud form. Winds from the storm "roll" the cloud parallel to the horizon, creating an effect that looks much like a horizontal tornado. Unlike shelf clouds, rolls clouds are completely detached from the bulk of the storm. [Gallery of Curious Clouds]

Roll clouds aren't dangerous in themselves, though, and many roll clouds form in relatively calm weather as a result of sea breezes. One of the most famous spots for these coastal roll clouds is off the coast of Queensland, Australia, where the so-called Morning Glory roll cloud forms regularly in fall months. This roll cloud photo was taken by Capt. Andreas M. van der Wurff from a ship en route from Paranagua, Brazil, to Montevideo, Uruguay, on Feb. 6.  Roll clouds are just one of the weird weather phenomenon that can happen when winds go wild. Wave clouds, for example, look like ripples in the sky. They occur when a large landmass such as a mountain forces an air mass to rise to cooler altitudes, where the moisture in the air condenses. The air then drops like a wave, leaving a cloud to mark its peak. Even more stunning are lenticular clouds, which are so smooth and round that they're sometimes mistaken for UFOs. They too form because of the vagaries of winds around mountain peaks.

MYSTERY: Bizarre, Weird, Strange and Inexplicable Cloud Formations - Crazy Rows of Clouds Over the Nebraska Panhandle and Across the Globe!

Western Nebraska is seeing a different sight today in the sky. Today's clouds look different from of the typical formations found in the sky. Over the panhandle clouds look like they had been win - rowed into long narrow rows.

In a interview with KNEB/Rural Radio Network, Meterologist Don Day says several components are coming together with the approaching cold front, lower level moisture level increasing and pretty some stout winds increasing just above the ground. He says a lot time those winds can make a wavy pattern, literally the air acts like waves on a beach. At the top of each wave, you can have a cloud form and sometimes it give you the wind row kind of effect on the shape of the cloud.

Today's cloud event is just the start of what's to come in next week's weather forecast. Nebraska will start to see more colder starting this weekend. Day says small chance for light snow shower activity in portions of the panhandle Saturday night and Sunday morning. It's going to be hard for the snow to make it as far north as Scottsbluff. He says it much more likely down towards Kimball, along I-80 corridor. He says we are looking at colder weather with a a better chance for light snow on Wednesday. This week there has been extremely cold in Alaska and Canada with temperatures up to 50 degrees below zero. As the cold air moves south Day says in the weeks ahead there will be colder, more winter like weather for Nebraska as well most of the lower 48 states." - KNEB.
