March 7, 2016 - SPACE - Conspiracy theorists are stocking up on food supplies amid fears the world could end in just TWO days when a total eclipse of the sun, super full moon and staggeringly close asteroid pass of earth are set to happen within 24 hours.
On March 8 asteroid TX 68, a 30-metre long lump of space rock, is due to whistle past Earth as close as 19,000 miles away.
But doom mongers are not convinced it will miss us with fears we won't be able to see it because it will be obscured by the sun.
The looming event has sent online doomsday predictors into a frenzy, particularly as NASA admits it is uncertain of the orbital path and has given estimates as close as 19,000 miles away to as far as 11 million miles.
The US space agency has also changed the DAY of the pass with the initial date being given as yesterday, March 5.
Now NASA says it will be on Tuesday, March 8.
The uncertainty over the pass coupled with the fact some online doom mongers were predicting an asteroid would smash into earth in March 2016 several months ago, has fuelled the latest fears.
Some self-styled internet prophets released videos several months ago warning an asteroid, or even a mythological rogue planet called Nibiru or Planet X, would strike Earth in March 2016, and could spell the end of the word.
Express.co.uk found several YouTube videos released six months or more ago, before there was any widespread talk of asteroid TX68's cosmic close shave.

It must be noted that videos also appear to exist for a number of other months and appear to be update when one date comes and goes without incident.
But if all this was not enough to pedal a doomsday prophecy, the conspiracists have been given more on a plate.
March 8 will also see a total solar eclipse in some parts of the globe, and a massive super full moon - the first of 2016.
In a video entitled 'Armageddon March 8th???', YouTube filmmaker Mike Morales questioned how NASA could say for sure it would not strike the planet, saying they didn't have the evidence to back it up either way.
Speaking of the total eclipse and super moon, he said: "We also have asteroid 2013 TX68 coming the exact same day and what they are saying is we won't be able to see or track it with a telescope because it is coming from the sun's side.
"This is a big heads up. is it Armageddon, who knows, but no mainstream news is warning us, NASA is not warning, so I am going to get ready like they are. Make sure you have got plenty of food supplies and water.
"It could definitely come inside our satellite belt. This thing could take out our satellites and could our gravitation pull or the moon's gravitational pull move it in?"

Regular asteroid and earthquake watcher, YouTube channel BPEarthWatch released a video with other concerns.
The video said: "We got a great amount of uncertainty.
"They now know it is moving slower or orbiting for slightly longer. It has a condition code of seven to nine and nine is the highest code of uncertainty.
"There is a cluster of debris coming with it we can't see because it is between Earth and the sun.
"They cannot see the object, are not picking it up on radar and have not given any new data.
"This is definitely one to pay attention to, head up and be safe."
YouTube channel Nemesis Maturity posted a video about the events this month.

Although it did not predict the end of the world would result, it warned of increased tidal activity and introduced the obligatory conspiracists's code into the mix.
The short film said TX68 would pass on March 8 - the 68th day of 2016.
It also pointed out we are due for 68 total solar eclipses this century.

Video subtitles said: "The super moon will line up with the sun to create a larger than average effect on earth's oceans."
The odd astronomical trio has seen the religious doommongers enter the ring as well with their own prophecies.
So what is the truth?
Well NASA said it is certain it will not hit us or pose any danger this year, although this is a very slim outside chance of a strike next year.

It’s nice to know Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos have a plan. They will help the richest people in the world go to Mars and start over, leaving the other 99 percent to suffer on a dying, warring planet. The only solace for those of us left here will be that the Biebs should be prosperous enough to go with them.
This is the unspoken flip side of Musk’s SpaceX and Bezos’s Blue Origin. The space travel companies say they are creating a way for the human species to endure by populating other planets. But the bottom line is that only the wealthy will have the means to move to Mars. Musk’s target ticket price is $500,000 a person in 2015 dollars, and that’s just to get there. Imagine the new outfits you’ll have to buy to go with that space helmet.So you can picture a scenario that’s something like the 1970s white flight from inner cities, when the wealthier classes moved to freshly built suburbs, leaving the declining neighborhoods to the lower classes. In fact, the fleeing upper classes sped up the decrepitude of that era’s older cities by relocating their money and clout with them. Today, we’re seeing a similar situation in Syria, as the wealthiest and most educated people escape to the West, which will make the country even harder to stabilize and rebuild.Such a dynamic could apply to the whole world in about 40 years. Maybe historians and scientists, charting Earth’s degeneration will trace a direct link back to this month’s climate talks in Paris. Couldn’t make a deal stick, they’ll say. Environment spun out of control. Drought. Upheaval. Anarchy. And then Wall Street bankers, tech titans, CEOs and Jay Z’s entourage decided to get the hell out and build McMansions in Martian space bubbles.
All this might sound crazy—except it’s not. Last month, Blue Origin advanced the technology of space flight by another important notch. The secretive company launched a rocket 62 miles into space and then landed it upright, like you might see in a sci-fi movie, just a few feet from the rocket’s launchpad. It’s a step toward making reusable rockets, and reusable rockets are absolutely essential to getting the cost of a Mars flight low enough to expand the target market beyond the Forbes 400.
For comparison’s sake, NASA space shuttle missions cost about $200 million per astronaut, and those flights went only into orbit. Compared with going to Mars, orbit is like putting a toe in the Atlantic versus sailing from Europe to the New World. And the shuttle, by the way, was not a reusable rocket—it was a reusable passenger compartment. No one had previously made a reusable rocket, which is a big reason space cost so much. The economics were as bad as if you had to buy a new engine for every car trip.
Blue Origin is now ginning up a real space race with SpaceX, which will help drive innovation and lower costs. Musk got a head start and has guided SpaceX into the business of launching satellites as a way to practice for human space travel. Bezos opened Blue Origin—a little side project when he’s not running Amazon.com—specifically to carry people to other planets, and it got its first rocket off the ground in April.
Also in the mix are Richard Branson with his Virgin Galactic and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, who funded the nerdily named Stratolaunch Systems. Space is turning into a billionaire-athon. If Donald Trump doesn’t become president, you just know there has to be a Trump Spaceship in his future.
Of course, launching a few rockets and saying you’re going to Mars is like writing a haiku and saying you’re going to become the next John Updike. But these guys are serious. “Our ultimate vision is millions of people living and working in space,” Bezos told reporters after the Blue Origin landing. Musk makes even grander statements. “We need to be laser-focused on becoming a multi-planet civilization,” he’s said. “That’s the next step.”
At least in some circles, building colonies on Mars has entered the realm of the possible. Some writers and scientists think the first brave souls will make the six-month journey to Mars within 10 years, and that’s Musk’s prediction. Not long after the technology is proven, regular flights of supplies and people will begin. The pioneers will have to build habitable indoor spaces and, later, domed communities. As this year’s hit movie The Martian showed us, once on Mars it’s possible to grow food, make breathable air and harvest energy from solar panels. Musk calls Mars “a fixer-upper of a planet,” but by 2040, he says, there should be a thriving colonial Martiantown.
That time frame is sobering—just 25 years from now. Think how fast 25 years can whip by. If you go back to 1990, Bill Clinton was eyeing his first run for the presidency, and Tim Berners-Lee was proposing the World Wide Web.
The real migration will start post-2040. Volume will drive down flight prices from tens of millions of dollars a person to $500,000. People will start companies on Mars. They’ll take their families. “It’s not going to be a vacation jaunt,” Musk said in interviews. “It’s going to be saving up all your money and
selling all your stuff, like when people moved to the early American colonies.” His goal, which he believes is achievable, is to get Mars up to a population of 1 million, which Musk says “is the critical threshold for us as a civilization to not join the potentially large number of one-planet dead civilizations out there.”
And that comment gets to the point about who goes and why. Some will go to seek opportunity, but the quiet assumption is that many will go out of self-preservation. The sad calculus is that the Mars business looks better the worse things get on Earth. And if that’s the case, it’s actually not like moving from Europe to the American colonies in 1700, when things were OK in Europe. It sounds more like escaping a ravaged land to go somewhere safe and start over.
Who will do that? The cost of the flight and setting up on another planet will hover well past the means of almost anyone but the superrich. Where will these wealthy people come from? Most of the space travel companies so far are American. What if those companies take mostly Americans? Will we start a human colony on Mars or an American colony?
Maybe later Mars will rebel and sign its Declaration of Independence from Earth. Maybe it will shut its borders and refuse any more refugees from that hot, horrible, hungry origin planet. We’re the exceptional people, the Martians might say, and all of you Earthlings just keep screwing up your home, so we don’t want you.
NASA Starts Looking For Astronauts To ‘Blaze Trail’ To Mars
Want to explore new, out of this world job opportunities? NASA, the US space agency, has begun a rare recruitment drive for future astronauts. However, those dreaming of boosting humanity to its next step towards Mars should first check the requirements.
Starting December 14, NASA is accepting applications for its next class of astronauts. This is less than a three-month opportunity for wannabe space explorers, who last had the chance to apply more than two years ago.
Chosen finalists will have the opportunity to fly on “any of four different US vessels during their careers: the International Space Station, two commercial crew spacecraft currently in development by US companies, and NASA’s Orion deep-space exploration vehicle,” according to the space agency.

NASA currently has 47 astronauts. By comparison, in 2000 – the peak of the space shuttle era – there were 149. Sadly for space-wonks, there hasn’t been much hiring since the US spaceflight program was grounded in 2011.
This year the competition is looking stiff. In 2013, NASA received applications from over 6,000 candidates and only eight were selected.
US spacecraft are scheduled to return to flight only in 2017. According to the application process, interviews will be held at the end of 2016 and beginning of 2017, with the finalists announced in June 2017.
The job qualifications are steep.
Candidates must have US citizenship, a bachelor’s degree in science, math, or engineering, as well as at least three years of professional experience or a minimum of 1,000 hours of pilot-in-command time in jet aircraft. Astronaut-wannabes are also required to pass NASA’s spaceflight physical.
Public applications will be accepted until February 28.
“Some people would be surprised to learn they might have what it takes,” Brian Kelly, director of flight operations at Johnson Space Center, said.
New astronauts will be paid between $66,000 and $145,000 per year and will need to move to Houston, Texas.
NASA has hired over 300 people since 1959 when its first crew was selected for the Mercury Project, which sent men into orbit around the Earth.
Charles Bolden, the agency’s Administrator, who is a former astronaut himself, said the new recruits will help “blaze the trail” to Mars. “This next group of American space explorers will inspire the Mars generation to reach for new heights, and help us realize the goal of putting boot prints on the red planet,” Bolden said.
Finalists will be trained and then tested for “International Space Station systems training, Extravehicular Activity skills training, Robotics skills training, Russian language training, and aircraft flight readiness training.”
FAA Advisory Group Endorses "Moon Village" Concept

A Federal Aviation Administration advisory committee has recommended that the FAA start discussions with the European Space Agency about commercial participation in an international lunar base concept promoted by the agency’s leader.
The FAA’s Commercial Space Transportation Advisory Committee (COMSTAC) unanimously approved a recommendation that the FAA’s Office of Commercial Space Transportation begin discussions with ESA on ways American companies could participate in what’s known as “Moon Village.” The vote was conducted by email after COMSTAC held a meeting via teleconference on the topic Dec. 10, committee chairman Mike Gold said Dec. 15.
The recommendation states that the FAA, “after consulting with the appropriate U.S. agencies, engage directly with ESA in support of the ‘Moon Village’ concept, with the goal of fostering the participation of U.S.-based commercial entities in the planning and creation of the ‘Moon Village.’”
The Moon Village concept is a proposal by ESA Director-General Johann-Dietrich Woerner, and is something he has discussed prior to become the head of the agency in July. It would involve the development of an international lunar base, with countries providing different elements or services to support it.

Woerner, who participated in the COMSTAC teleconference, said he was open to participation by companies as well as countries. “We are putting together different users, different competencies, be it private or public,” he said. Companies in both the U.S. and Europe have already contacted him about ways they can take part, including using the base for tourism and mining.
FAA officials have already expressed an interest in supporting a commercial role in the concept. “Private industry has the potential to play an important role, and it need not be exclusively as a government contractor,” said George Nield, FAA associate administrator for commercial space transportation at an October COMSTAC meeting here.
COMSTAC members expressed support for a private-sector role in such a concept, even if some were skeptical that it could be commercially viable. “It might be hard in the near term to think of a profit-making venture that can work on the moon such that it would be in the time horizon of a rational investor,” said Mike Griffin, the chairman and chief executive of Schafer Corporation and a former NASA administrator. However, he said, commercial ventures could support a government-led facility there by transporting cargo.
The Moon Village concept is, for now, just that: a concept without a specific technical design, budget or schedule. “It’s an open situation,” Woerner said at a Space Transportation Association luncheon here Dec. 10. “It depends totally on what the different entities would like to provide and at what time.”
Woerner reiterated that at the later COMSTAC teleconference. “There are people trying to convince me already about the architecture” of the facility, he said. “For me, the more important thing is that we together decide on a global, international scheme.”
November 10, 2015 - UNITED STATES - The US military-intelligence complex is engaged in systematic preparations for World War III.
As far as the Pentagon is concerned, a military conflict with China
and/or Russia is inevitable, and this prospect has become the driving
force of its tactical and strategic planning. Three congressional hearings Tuesday demonstrated this reality.In
the morning, the Senate Armed Services Committee held a lengthy hearing
on cyberwarfare. In the afternoon, a subcommittee of the House Armed
Services Committee discussed the present size and deployment of the US
fleet of aircraft carriers, while another subcommittee of the same panel
discussed the modernization of US nuclear weapons.
We will provide a more detailed account of these hearings, which were attended by a WSWS reporter.But certain preliminary observations can be made.
None of the hearings discussed the broader implications of the US
preparations for war, or what a major war between nuclear-armed powers
would mean for the survival of the human race, and even of life on our
planet. On the contrary, the hearings were examples of what might be called the routinization of World War III.
A US war with China and/or Russia was taken as given, and the testimony
of witnesses and questions from senators and representatives, Democrats
and Republicans alike, concerned the best methods for prevailing in
such a conflict. The hearings were component parts of an ongoing process. The
witnesses referred to their past writings and statements. The senators
and representatives referred to previous testimony by other witnesses.
In other words, the preparations for world war, using cyber weapons,
aircraft carriers, bombers, missiles and the rest of a vast array of
weaponry, have been under way for a protracted period of time. They are
not a response to recent events, whether in the South China Sea,
Ukraine, Syria or anywhere else. Each of the hearings presumed a major US conflict with
another great power (sometimes unnamed, sometimes explicitly designated
as China or Russia) within a relatively short time frame, years rather
than decades.
The danger of terrorism, hyped incessantly for
the purposes of stampeding public opinion, was downplayed and to some
extent discounted. At one point in the Senate hearing on cyberwarfare,
in response to a direct question from Democrat Jeanne Shaheen of New
Hampshire, the panel witnesses all declared that their greatest concern
was nation-states, not terrorists.
One of the witnesses at that hearing was Dr. Peter W. Singer, listed
as a “Strategist and Senior Fellow” for New America, a Washington think
tank. He titled his presentation,“The Lessons of World War 3.”He began his prepared statement with the following description of that imagined conflict:
“US
and Chinese warships battle at sea, firing everything from cannons to
cruise missiles to lasers. Stealthy Russian and American fighter jets
dogfight in the air, with robotic drones flying as their wingmen.
Hackers in Shanghai and Silicon Valley duel in digital playgrounds. And
fights in outer space decide who wins below on Earth. Are these scenes
from a novel or what could actually take place in the real world the day
after tomorrow? The answer is both.”
None of the hearings saw any debate about either the likelihood of a
major war or the necessity of winning that war. No one challenged the
assumption that “victory” in a world war between nuclear-armed powers is
a meaningful concept. The discussion was entirely devoted to
what technologies, assets and human resources were required for the US
military to prevail. This was just as true for the Democratic senators and representatives as for their Republican counterparts. By
custom, the two parties are seated on opposite sides of the committee
or subcommittee chairmen. Without that arrangement, there would be no
way of detecting, from their questions and expressions of opinion, which
party they belonged to.
Contrary to the media portrayal of Washington as deeply divided between parties with intransigently opposed political outlooks, there was bipartisan agreement on this most fundamental of issues, the preparation of a new imperialist world war. The unanimity of the political representatives of big
business by no means suggests that there are no obstacles in the path of
this drive to war.Each of the hearings grappled, in different ways, with the profound crisis confronting American imperialism. This crisis has two major components:
the declining economic power of the United States compared to its major
rivals, and the internal contradictions of American society, with the
deepening alienation of the working class and particularly the youth.
At the House subcommittee hearing on aircraft carriers, the chairman noted that one of the witnesses, a top Navy admiral, had expressed concern over having “an 11-carrier navy in a 15-carrier world.”There were so many challenges confronting Washington, he continued,
that what was really needed was a navy of 21 aircraft carriers—double
the present size, and one that would bankrupt even a country with far
more resources than the United States. The Senate hearing on cybersecurity touched briefly on the internal challenge to American militarism.
The lead witness, retired Gen. Keith Alexander, former director of the
National Security Agency and former head of the Pentagon’s CyberCommand,
bemoaned the effect of leaks by NSA contractor Edward Snowden and Army
private Chelsea Manning, declaring that “insider attacks” were one of
the most serious threats facing the US military.
Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia asked him directly, referring to Snowden,“Should we treat him as a traitor?” Alexander responded, “He should be
treated as a traitor and tried as such.” Manchin nodded heartily, in
evident agreement.
While the witnesses and senators chose to use the names of Snowden and Manning to personify the “enemy within,”they were clearly conscious that the domestic opposition to war is far broader than a few individual whistleblowers. This is not a matter simply of the deep-seated revulsion
among working people in response to 14 years of bloody imperialist
interventions in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Libya, Syria, Yemen and
across North Africa, important as that is. A war between the United States and a major power like China or
Russia, even if it were possible to prevent its escalation into an
all-out nuclear exchange, wouldinvolve a colossal mobilization of the resources of American society, both economic and human. It would mean further dramatic reductions in the living standards of the American people, combined witha huge blood toll that would inevitably fall mainly on the children of the working class.
Ever since the Vietnam War, the US military has operated as an
all-volunteer force, avoiding conscription, which provoked widespread
opposition and direct defiance in the 1960s and early 1970s. A
non-nuclear war with China or Russia would mean the restoration of the
draft and bring the human cost of war home to every family in America.
Under those conditions, no matter how great the buildup of
police powers and the resort to repressive measures against antiwar
sentiments, the stability of American society would be put to the test.The US ruling elite is deeply afraid of the political consequences. And it should be.

November 10, 2015 - CZECH REPUBLIC - It stands alone in a quiet valley in the Czech Republic, bordered by a
magnificent countryside. The estate is surrounded by high walls, and is
not visible at ground level. From the air, the compound appears to be a
large administration center. This is The Oppidum,
a massive 323,000 square foot property with plans for a spectacular
estate. What lies hidden beneath, carved deep in the mountain is the
largest residential doomsday shelter in the world.
The Oppidum will be more than an underground bunker for dangerous
times. It provides an above-ground residential estate in which the
owners can maintain a high standard of living in a secluded area above
ground during times of potential danger.
The compound is protected by multiple high-security systems (from
high walls and detection sensors to automated defense technology) and
strong communications with the outside world.
The residents can enter the shelter by descending through a secret
corridor to the bunker, sealing it with a blast door in less than a
minute. It enables inhabitants to return quickly to the above-ground
residence once the threat has passed.
The below-ground Bunker of The Oppidum will be the area in which
inhabitants can be isolated and protected from the threat of war,
disease, natural disasters, or personal threats ranging from terrorists
to zombies.

The planned luxurious underground compound on two levels includes a
total space of 77,500 sf with 13 foot high ceilings. The layout features
one large 6,750 sf apartment and six 1,720 sf apartments.
Among the luxury features are an underground garden with simulated
natural light, as well as a spa, swimming pool, cinema, library, and
other leisure facilities. There will be offices and a conference room as
well as medical and surgical facilities and supplies. Custom private
vaults will also be designed to store valuables and personal art
collections.
The entire Oppidum complex can be operated from an underground
control center, with exclusive access to communications networks
internally and to the outside world.

The location of The Oppidum is the foundation of its security. The
Czech Republic is in central Europe and is surrounded by mountains. The
country is not a target of aggression by any other countries or
organizations. Any potential conflict in the world is likely to avoid
the Czech Republic or, at the very least, reach it at a later stage,
which would enable the owners of The Oppidum to arrive at the compound
and make preparations.
Construction on the secret facility began in 1984, at the height of
the Cold War, as a Classified joint venture between the governments of
what were then Czechoslovakia and The Soviet Union. It was built between
1984 and 1994, at a time when global instability and the possibility of
weapons of mass destruction were entirely real, just as they are today.

Because the construction of the facility occurred at a time of
heightened world tension, the enormous level of resources used to
develop it would be all but impossible to match today. It is extremely
unlikely that any government would approve a non-military structure of
this size to be built today.
In cases of less catastrophic situations, the bunker will allow the
inhabitants to survive natural or man-made disasters, or long-term power
outages. The bunker will also be able to provide long-term
accommodation for residents – up to 10 years if necessary – without the
need for external supplies. This would involve large-scale stocks of
non-perishable food and water, along with water purification equipment,
medical supplies, surgical facilities, and communication networks with
the outside world.

The Oppidum complex will provide its owner with a safe haven for
family, friends, business partners, other professionals, and staff in an
above-ground residential estate before disaster strikes.
The underground levels of The Oppidum are in a newly reconstructed
shell-and-core state. Communication and other technologies are not yet
in place. They will be incorporated during the customization process.
The above-ground section of The Oppidum is in its original condition,
also ready to be customized to the buyer’s wishes. The buyer will be
able to choose whether to commission The Oppidum project team to
customize the facility or to do the customization of some or all of it
independently.

The Oppidum was created by Jakub Zamrazil, a Czech entrepreneur with a
successful track record in real estate development, sales and marketing.
When Mr Zamrazil first toured the unique former military facility, he
was impressed by its massive scale. He saw its potential to be
transformed into the ultimate life-assurance solution and named it The
Oppidum, from the Latin word meaning the main settlement in an
administrative area of ancient Rome. The word was derived from the
earlier Latin op-pedum, an “enclosed space”, used to describe fortresses
that were constructed in Europe as early as the Iron Age.

The system uses arachnid-like droids to construct large objects in orbit around the Earth or further into the Solar System.
Tethers Unlimited CEO and chief scientist Dr. Robert Hoyt believes the SpiderFab system could be used to build radio antennas, spacecraft booms and solar arrays within the next decade.
But Dr. Hoyt also sees the robotic spiders helping humanity toward a long-term goal – sustaining mankind as it travels across the universe.
"Our really long-term objective for all of this work is to eventually enable the use of in-situ resources to construct the infrastructure in space needed to support humanity's expansion throughout the solar system," Dr. Hoyt claimed last month, during a presentation with NASA's Future In-Space Operations (FISO) working group.
Dr. Hoyt believes the current method of manufacturing a spacecraft – assembling everything on Earth and then launching the finished product in one piece – is unnecessarily wasteful.
"It's a very expensive and time-consuming process, and also, the size of systems is somewhat limited by the size of the deployables that are possible to fold up and fit within a launch shroud," he said.
SpiderFab could cut construction costs by only launching raw materials – such as carbon fibre – into orbit.

"The primary [advantage] will be that we can deploy apertures and baselines that are much larger than we can currently fit into launch shrouds," Dr. Hoyt added.
"The payoff of that will be higher power, higher resolution, higher sensitivity and higher bandwidth for a wide range of NASA, DoD [Department of Defence] and commercial space missions."
Crafts built entirely in space have the potential to be sleeker and simpler than current designs – as they do not have to survive the trauma of launch.
This would lead to further cost savings, Dr. Hoyt has predicted.
At the heart of Hoyt's ambitious project are the space spiders – a multi-armed robot capable of making many of the structural elements needed for the build, like an eight legged 3D printer.
Once the piece has been produced by its spinneret, the spider can piece together the structural elements using its metal limbs.
"Under the NIAC and SBIR work (NASA's Small Business Innovation Research) I think we've already validated the basic feasibility of the key processes required" for the SpiderFab concept, Dr. Hoyt said.
Tethers Unlimited hopes to launch its first working construction robot into space within the next couple of years.
"In a perfect world — if funding flowed and the contracting process didn't drag on forever — we think we could get to be able to build very large support structures for antennas and solar arrays, and those sorts of components, in the early 2020s," Dr. Hoyt added. - Express.

Officials within the UN are pushing the notion that the human
population should be reduced in order to effectively combat climate
change.
The long standing notion has been continually pushed by Christiana
Figueres, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC). In 2013, Figueres had a
conversation with Climate One founder Greg Dalton regarding “fertility rates in population,” as a contributor to climate change.

“A related issue is fertility rates in population.” Dalton opined. “A
lot of people in energy and environmental circles don’t wanna go near
that because it’s politically charged. It’s not their issue.” he added.
“But isn’t it true that stopping the rise of the population would be
one of the biggest levers and driving the rise of green house gases?”
Dalton asked.
“Obviously less people would exert less pressure on the natural
resources,” Figueres answered, also noting that estimates suggest the
Earth’s population will rise to nine billion by 2050.
Dalton then questioned whether that figure could in some way be stalled or halted.
“So is nine billion a forgone conclusion? That’s like baked in, done, no way to change that?” he asked Figueres.
“There is pressure in the system to go toward that; we can
definitely change those, right? We can definitely change those numbers,”
Figueres said in response.
“Really, we should make every effort to change those numbers
because we are already, today, already exceeding the planet’s planetary
carrying capacity.” she also claimed.
“So yes we should do everything possible. But we cannot fall into
the very simplistic opinion of saying just by curtailing population
then we’ve solved the problem. It is not either/or, it is an and/also.”

Climate One is a self described public affairs forum
which advocates extreme action to combat climate change. It is a branch
of The Commonwealth Club of California based in San Francisco,
essentially a talking shop visited regularly by heads of government and
corporate business.
Figueres is no stranger to controversial statements when it comes to climate change. The UN official previously described the goal of the UNFCC as “a complete transformation of the economic structure of the world.”
Figueres noted that a partisan divide in the U.S. Congress is
“very detrimental” to passing climate related legislation, while the
Chinese Communist Party, sets policies by decree. President Obama
clearly agrees given that he continues to bypass Congress by issuing executive orders on climate change.
As InfoWars has continually noted, there is a fundamental flaw in associating climate change with overpopulation.
Populations in developed countries are declining and only in
third world countries are they expanding dramatically. Industrialization
itself levels out population trends and even despite this world
population models routinely show that the earth’s population will level
out at 9 billion in 2050 and slowly decline after that. “The population
of the most developed countries will remain virtually unchanged at 1.2
billion until 2050,” states a United Nations report. The UN’s support for depopulation policies is in direct contradiction to their own findings.
Once a country industrializes there is an average of a 1.6 child
rate per household, so the western world population is actually in
decline. That trend has also been witnessed in areas of Asia like Japan
and South Korea. The UN has stated that the population will peak at 9
billion and then begin declining.
Since radical environmentalists are pushing to de-industrialize
the world in the face of the so called carbon threat, this will reverse
the trend that naturally lowers the amount of children people have. If
climate change fanatics are allowed to implement their policies, global
population will continue to increase and overpopulation may become a
real problem – another example of how the global warming hysterics are
actually harming the long term environment of the Earth by preventing
overpopulated countries from developing and naturally lowering their
birth levels.
Even if you play devils advocate and accept that humans do cause catastrophic warming and there are too
many of us, and if you can skip past the eugenics connotations of
population control and depopulation policies, those methods are
fundamentally still not a valid solution to the perceived climate change threat.
The real solution would be to help increase the standard of
living of the cripplingly poor third world, allowing those countries to
industrialize, and seeing the population figures naturally level out.
Instead, the third world has seen a doubling in food prices owing to climate change policies such as turning over huge areas of agricultural land to the growth of biofuels.
In addition, Climate legislation continually pushed by the developed world has those nations taking on less of a burden than anticipated demanding more of poorer countries, despite the fact that any further cuts in CO2 emissions will further cripple their flimsy economies and poverty-stricken people.
Previous legislation, such as the Copenhagen agreement, allowed people in developed countries to emit twice as much carbon per head than those in poorer countries, who have not caused the rise in emissions said to be threatening our existence on the planet. The revelations have led third world leaders to accuse the developed world of “climate colonialism”.
Linking environmental policy to depopulation agendas opens the door to eugenics and it is no surprise that through that door have come pouring hordes of elitist filth just begging to be on the front line of the extermination policy.
One example is UK-based public policy group The Optimum Population Trust (OPT), which has previously launched initiatives urging wealthy members of the developed world to participate in carbon offsets that fund programs for curbing the population of developing nations.
In 2007, the group also published a report announcing that children are ‘bad for planet and ‘having large families should be frowned upon as an environmental misdemeanour in the same way as frequent long-haul flights, driving a big car and failing to reuse plastic bags.
While you may think ideas of sterilization and depopulation could never be accepted by the public, those very concepts are now being embraced and popularized by some as the way forward for humanity.

- A Swedish scientist claims in a new theory that humanity has exceeded
four of the nine limits for keeping the planet hospitable to modern
life, while another professor told RT Earth may be seeing an impending
human-made extinction of various species.
Environmental science
professor Johan Rockstrom, the executive director of the Stockholm
Resilience Centre in Sweden, argues that there are nine “planetary boundaries” in a new paper published in Science – and human beings have already crossed four of them.
Those
nine include carbon dioxide concentrations, maintaining biodiversity at
90 percent, the use of nitrogen and phosphorous, maintaining 75 percent
of original forests, aerosol emissions, stratospheric ozone depletion,
ocean acidification, fresh water use and the dumping of pollutants.
“The planet has been our best friend by buffering our actions and showing its resilience,” said Rockstrom. “But for the first time ever, we might shift the planet from friend to foe.”

Rockstrom’s
planetary boundary theory was first conceived in 2007. His new paper
reveals that because of climate stability, which began when the Ice Age
ended 11,000 years ago, a planetary calm helped our ancestors to
cultivate wheat, domesticate animals, and launch industrial and
communications revolutions. But those advances have strained the
stability of the planet, and Rockstrom says we have broken four
boundaries: too much nitrogen has been added to ecosystems, too many
forests have been cut down, the climate is changing too quickly and
species are going extinct at too great a rate.
Speaking to RT’s
Ben Swann, Professor of Ethics Bron Taylor from the University of
Florida said that we have accelerated the extinction crisis through
deforestation and ocean acidification, a development which is driving
species to extinction. “[Human] beings have increased, even
from 1925, from 2 billion – which is considered to be a sustainable
population for human beings, according to northern European consumption
standards – to 7.2 billion at this point,” he said.

“What
we have also done is increased the number of domestic animals, the ones
we eat and the ones that are companion animals. We have 4.3 domestic
animals one for every two human beings on the planet. Cultivating the
land they need creates species extinction because where they are, other
organism are not. Where we cut down forests for cattle, other species
are not there."
“We are losing literally tens of thousands of endemic or native species to these trends.”
Professor
Taylor told RT that scientists say we entering the Sixth extinction,
but that this an anthropogenic extinction caused by human beings.
“If you don’t have control over something, there is no moral obligation,” said Taylor. “In
this case, we are doing it. So we have to ask the question: If we are
doing something that is driving species off the planet, are we in some
sense morally culpable?” “What right do we have to drive
[out] other species, who got here in precisely in the same way that we
have, who have participated in the long struggle for existence just as
we have?”
Meanwhile, Professor Rockstrom is using his
planetary boundary theory not as a doomsday message but as analysis to
keep the planet “safe” for humanity. He said nations can cut
their carbon emissions to almost nothing and pull the Earth back across
the climate boundary. “For the first time,” he said, “we have a framework for growth, for eradicating poverty and hunger, and for improving health.” - RT.
May 28, 2014 - SPACE- This is CNN… issuing a correction over a viral, user-posted report
that a giant asteroid is on a collision course with Earth, and would
wipe out life on the planet on March 35, 2041. Now “the most trusted
name in news” has space egg on its face.
The report, called “Giant asteroid possibly on collision course with Earth,” was posted over the weekend by iReport user Marcus575. It quoted NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory as saying a 10-mile wide object is on a trajectory that could bring a “high speed collision course with our fragile planet” from 51 million miles away or so. The date of the “potentially lethal encounter” was listed as “March 35, 2041.”
The post notes in multiple places it is not vetted for or by CNN.

The iReport was pulled down on Monday, but not before it received
over 250,000 views and was shared over 24,000 times on Facebook,
Salon reported. Not to mention, several major publications linked
to it, according to CNET.
CNN replaced the post with a statement: “NASA has confirmed via email that this story is false. A spokeswoman for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory says that the largest object detected by NEOWISE measures 3 km in diameter and poses no risk to Earth. The iReport has been removed,” a CNN iReport producer wrote.
Now that we know we’re not all going to die, nor do we need to send Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck into space with a nuclear bomb (and Steven Tyler wailing in the background), the media is focusing on how the hoax will affect the reputation of the first 24-hour cable news network.
“CNN destroyed by huge asteroid: What happens when a news [organization] fails to fact-check or monitor user-generated content? Your brand goes boom,” the Salon headline about the fake post read.
CNN describes iReport - its user-generated social media platform - as “an invitation for you to be a part of CNN's coverage of the stories you care about and an opportunity to be a part of a global community of men and women who are as passionate about the news as you are.”
The website notes that the content is not moderated. “Everything you see on iReport starts with someone in the CNN audience. The stories here are not edited fact-checked or screened before they post. CNN's producers will check out some of the most compelling, important and urgent iReports and, once they're cleared for CNN, make them a part of CNN's news coverage.”
Comedian Stephen Colbert warned of just such problems on “The Colbert Report” in November 2011, when CNN laid off 50 staff members, mostly editors and photojournalists, calling them “redundant” due to user-generated content and social media on the network’s iReport site. “Why buy the cow when you can have it shakily video tape its own milk for free?” Colbert asked, introducing a satirical sketch pointing out a multitude of issues with the iReport model.
Keith Cowing, a former NASA employee who runs the popular Nasa Watch blog, pointed out some of the clues the post was a hoax. “March 35? No comment from NASA. Love the tags: ‘beiber, war, gaming, stocks, science, cyrus, space, obama, earth, states’,” he wrote.
MIT’s Knight Science Journalism blog delved deeper into the iReport’s issues. “The grammar is wonky. The style suggests the writer might be lampooning overblown science writing,” Faye Flam wrote. “The message is clear enough. It’s not a nice thing to contemplate the first day back at work after a three-day holiday weekend, but the good news is that it looks like the only impact story here is the fact that the cable news network has slammed the Earth with an enormous bolide of B.S.”
Flam also originally mused, “One can only hope that with a proclamation of the end of the world, CNN wouldn’t wait for NASA to 'confirm' that it’s wrong.” (That sentence has since been struck out.)
Salon’s biting commentary of the incident ends with, “The only silver lining here: CNN’s next bogus tale of annihilation probably won’t get the same traction. It takes a lot of work to build a trusted brand. But ruining your reputation is easy.” - RT.

The crescent sun, an annular eclipse meaning that the moon is too far away to completely block out the sun, instead creating a perfect ‘ring of fire’ could be witnessed in Perth, Australia, from 05:00 GMT on April 29. Such eclipses are relatively common, with about four every five years. The last occurred in May 2013.
What makes this eclipse – the first of 2014 - unusual is that it is non-central, meaning that the center of the Moon’s shadow will not fall on Earth, instead passing above the Southern Hemisphere sky.
Of 3,956 annular eclipses calculated to have happened or scheduled to happen between 2,000 BC and 3,000 AD only 68, or 1.7 percent, are non-central annular eclipses. This is only the third such event since the 17th century.

As most of the shadow was set to miss Earth – the perfect spot to watch the eclipse at its most symmetrical would have been above the planet . The only place where the “ring of fire”, or annulus, can be seen at all is in Antarctica. The spot is half way between the Dumont d’Urville and Concordia stations – located 1,100 km apart – meaning that in all likelihood no human was able to witness the unusual phenomenon.
"This is a thoroughly bizarre eclipse," said a statement from Bob Berman, an astronomer with the Slooh Space Camera, which broadcasts astral events online.
“As we will watch in real time as the inky black hemisphere of the moon partially obscures the sun, the greatest thrill might be an awareness of what's occurring — unseen by any human — in a tiny region of Antarctica."

For sentient observers, due to the imperfect angle of observation the phenomenon wouldn't "look any different from a normal, partial eclipse," Stephen Hughes told Australian Associated Press. A partial eclipse occurs when the Sun and the Moon do not fully align, so that the latter blocks out only a chunk of the former.
About half the Sun was covered when the eclipse passed Sydney, and more than two thirds over Melbourne.

The eclipse could also be perceived in southern Indonesian islands.
NASA published an interactive map that allowed Australasian residents to see when the eclipse passed through their area, but as usual, amateur sky-watchers were instructed to avoid looking at the Sun without protective equipment. - RT.

The event led to some stunning sights for those who braved the early hours to get a glimpse of the rare occurrence, with the moon changing color from bright orange to a blood red and brown, depending on the local weather conditions. Los Angeles and Dallas were two cities which had the best views of the phenomenon.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon and the sun are on opposite sides of the Earth. This actually happens quite frequently, but it is rare for the alignment to be just right so that the Earth blocks out all the sun’s light and the moon goes almost completely dark. This is the first of four total eclipses, which will take place roughly every six months for the next two years. This is known as a tetrad and is very uncommon. The next one will be in 2032.
Ed Krupp, director of the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles said, “The fact that there are four lunar successions coming this year and next ... is unusual, but it's not the kind of thing astronomers get worked up about. It doesn't really mean anything, and it's a chance arrangement of gravity and the motions of objects in the solar system, primarily the Earth and moon.”

Before the eclipse occurred, a small group of Christians believed the event was a biblical prophecy, which would lead to the end of the world.
John Hagee, pastor and author of ‘Four Blood Moons: Something Is About to Change,’ cited Joel 2:31 as evidence, which says: "The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come."

Proponents of this biblical prophecy also say it coincides with two important Jewish holidays – Passover and Tabernacles – contributing to the significance of the event.
However, writing for EarthSky.org, Bruce McClure and Deborah Byrd say that it’s no surprise that full moons coincide with important Jewish holidays, as the Jewish calendar is, after all, a lunar calendar.
“In any year, it’s inevitable that a full moon should fall on or near the feasts of Passover (15 Nissan) and Tabernacles (15 Tishri). Nissan and Tishri are the first and seventh months of the Jewish calendar, respectively,” they explained. - RT.

Bestselling author and televangelist Pastor John Hagee claims the four blood moons that will soon appear in the skies over America are evidence of a future “world-shaking event.”
The blood moons are part of a tetrad, a set of complete and consecutive lunar eclipses that will begin on April 15 and continue in roughly six-month intervals until October 2015.
According to NASA, seeing four complete lunar eclipses in a row is very rare. The skies were tetrad-free from 1600 to 1900. But in the 21st century, there will be many.

What’s even stranger is that Americans have a front row seat.
Hagee, founder of Texas’ Cornerstone Church, thinks this is no coincidence. For him, it's a sign of the end times.

The 73-year-old preacher has been preparing for the tetrad for years. He released a book about the blood moons last October and will go in depth about his speculations during a special TV event on April 15 on the Global Evangelism Television channel.
He points to Acts 2:19-20, which reads, “And I will show wonders in Heaven above and signs in the Earth beneath, the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.”
In sermons to his flock, Hagee said that each of the blood moons happens on a religiously significant day.
The April 15 event happens during Passover. On Oct. 8, the blood moon will occur during the Feast of Tabernacles. Another blood moon will occur during Passover on April 4, 2015. The last will happen on Sept. 28, 2015, another Feast ot the Tabernacles.
For proof of his theory, Hagee finds connections between past tetrads and important events in the life of the Jewish people.
In 1493, a tetrad occurred while the Jews were being expelled from Spain. Another tetrad occurred in 1949, soon after the state of Israel was founded. The last tetrad happened in 1967, during the Six-Day War between Arabs and Israelis.

“Just as in biblical times, God is controlling the sun, the moon, and the stars to send our generation a signal that something big is about to happen. The question is: Are we watching and listening to His message?” Hagee writes in his book.
The pastor has sparked controversy in the past for comments he’s made about a wide range of topics — from homosexuality to Islam.
In 2008, Hagee was criticized for suggesting that Hurricane Katrina was a result of God’s wrath toward the city of New Orleans for planning a rally for gays and lesbians.

what made this event so remarkable is that it occured precisely a week
before everyone on earth will see the first of FOUR dark red 'blood
moons', an extraordinary event some Christians believe represents the

blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD comes," [Joel

And, according to NASA, a highly unusual 'Tetrad' - four successive total 'blood-red' lunar eclipses each followed by six full moons - will, indeed, start next Tuesday and finish on September 28 2015.
The incredible alignment has only happened a handful of times in the last two thousand years but, remarkably, on each of the last three occasions it has coincided with a globally significant religious event.

The first Tetrad since the Middle
Ages, in 1493, saw the expulsion of Jews by the Catholic Spanish
Inquisition, which rocked western Europe.
The second coincided with the establishment of the State of Israel - after thousands of years of struggle - in 1949.
Strangely, the last one occurred in 1967 - far earlier than expected - precisely at the time of the Six-Day Arab–Israeli War.

A spokesman for NASA said: "This is the first eclipse of the year and is well placed for observers throughout the Western Hemisphere.
"It will occur at the lunar orbit's ascending node in Virgo.
"This is the first of four consecutive total lunar eclipses in 2014 and 2015 - a series known as a Tetrad."

He added: "The frequency of Tetrads is variable over time.
"Italian
astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli first pointed out that Tetrads were

"The 565-year period of the Tetrad 'seasons' is tied to the slowly decreasing eccentricity of Earth's orbit.
"Consequently, the Tetrad period is gradually decreasing.
"In the distant future Tetrads will no longer be possible."

Mr Hagee explains: "According to the Biblical prophecy, world history is about to change dramatically.
"To get four blood moons you need something absolutely extraordinary in astrological terms.
"Every
time this has happened in the last 500 years, it has coincided with
tragedy for the Jewish people followed by triumph. And once again, for
Israel, the timing of this Tetrad is remarkable.
"The first of
the four blood moons will come on April 15 this year, during Passover.
The second will be on October 8, at the time of the Feast of the
Tabernacles.
"On April 4 2015, during Passover, we will have
another blood moon. Then finally, on September 28, during next year's
Feast of the Tabernacles, the fourth blood and final moon will dawn."
Mars, Earth, and the Sun all aligned last night, a rare 'opposition of the planets' that only happens once every 778 days.
He adds: "To have four and have them fall on these exact dates is something that has to be beyond coincidental.
"What is so remarkable about these blood moons is that they specifically fulfill prophecies set out in the Bible.
"Joel Chapter Two also says the 'Day of the Lord will be as when the sun refuses to shine'.
"The really significant fact is that between these four blood moons there will be a total solar eclipse.
"Even
Jesus himself, in the Book of Luke, states there 'will be signs in the
sun, moon and stars' and to 'lift up your heads for redemption draws
nigh'.
"There's a sequence of prophetic events that the Bible says will happen. It does not, ever, give a timeline.
"It just says 'when you see these signs' - and four blood moons is a very significant one - 'the end of this age is coming."

While NASA has confirmed the
astrological validity behind some of the claims, not everyone is
convinced the Tetrad means anything at all, let alone the End of Days.
Professor
Gary Shogren, a former pastor who studied the New Testament at Aberdeen
University, said: "You’ll never go broke predicting the apocalypse.
"An
eclipse on Passover night seems wildly improbable, but we should
remember that lunar eclipses only happen on full moons and that Passover
by definition always takes place on a full moon. Sukkoth (The Feast of
Tabernacles) also by definition coincides with a full moon.
