EARTH CHANGES: Monumental Signs Of The Times - SOTT Earth Changes Video Summary For February, 2016!

Massive sinkhole swallows up car with family in China.

March 11, 2016 - EARTH - Sinkholes swallowing cars and people, meteor fireballs raining down, and volcanoes erupting all over the place - for the shortest month of the year, February 2016 sure was eventful...

Last month, there were many spectacular volcanic eruptions in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Indonesia and Japan. Elsewhere, the Earth literally opened up to kill a man in Arizona, while a giant fissure swallowed a river in southern Mexico. Major earthquakes included a 6.4 magnitude tremor in Taiwan that toppled buildings and killed 33 people, while another strong quake (5.9M) struck Christchurch, New Zealand, which is still rebuilding after a devastating earthquake struck the South Island city in February 2011.

A lot of spectacular meteor fireballs were caught on camera last month. On just one day, February 6th, there were 3 notable meteor events: NASA recorded a massive overhead explosion in the South Atlantic Ocean; a second meteor shook homes when it exploded over Denmark and sent meteorites to the ground; and a third meteor did likewise in southern India, killing a man who had the misfortune of becoming the first official case of 'death-by-meteor'. The bolide that exploded over the South Atlantic was the largest to hit the planet since the Chelyabinsk event, almost three years to the day.

The month of February saw massive stranding of whales.

Those strange 'sky sounds' were heard in North America last month, notably in the US Northeast and Quebec. Deluges brought flash-flooding to Mauritius, Fiji was flattened by its strongest ever storm, Peru was hit by devastating mudslides, and there were heavy snowfalls in parts of the US and Pakistan. Ottawa, Canada received its biggest single-day snowfall in over 100 years. Incredibly, it also snowed in Guatemala and Honduras for only the second time (the first occasion was in 2013), while Costa Rica, 10 degrees north of the equator, received its first ever snowfall.

An increasingly erratic Jet Stream coupled with a record-strong El Nino brought weather extremes to the US, with the US Southwest experiencing a record heatwave for this time of year, the US Northeast experiencing record cold temperatures mid-month, and the US South experiencing both unseasonal tornado outbreaks and blizzards. In what appears to be an increasing trend, sea life continues washing ashore in droves on beaches around the world. We also have several clips of animals going on the rampage, including the somewhat symbolic sight of a bear attacking people in Turkey.

EARTH CHANGES: Monumental Signs Of The Times - SOTT Earth Changes Video Summary For December, 2015!

January 13, 2016 - EARTH - A year of astonishing weather events and devastating natural disasters came to a dramatic end last month, ruining Christmas celebrations for many. Unusual atmospheric conditions and a severely looping northern jet stream brought record warmth to the Arctic and Western Europe, where back-to-back storms pummeled the UK, Ireland and Norway with record-breaking rainfall and hurricane-force winds. A similar situation developed on the opposite side of the globe, where, for the second year running, the most intense North Pacific storm ever recorded slammed into Alaska and brought intense flooding to the US Northwest.

December 2015 was a 'tale of two USAs', with the western half generally experiencing record cold, record snowfall, and ice storms, while the eastern states experienced record warmth, fatal tornado outbreaks and record flooding. Incredibly, it was warmer on Christmas Day in Boston and New York City than it was on July 4th. Severe flooding affected all continents, with over 100,000 people displaced in the capital of Congo, Kinshasa; another 160,000 displaced in central Latin America; and 300 killed by 'the worst flooding in over a century' in southern India.

There were also multiple volcanic eruptions last month, spectacular meteor fireball sightings, gaping sinkholes swallowing homes, and localized storms of such intensity that falling hail turned streets into rivers of ice in northern Argentina, while tornadoes touched down in New Zealand. The animal kingdom is also feeling the effects of global upheaval: mass fish kills continue apace; enormous whales continue washing up on sea shores; and, for the second time in 5 months, a giant squid was filmed coming up to the surface... Does something stir in the deep?

FIRE IN THE SKY: "Dramatic Spectacle" - Christmas Fireball Lights Up Spanish Skies!

© Screen grab: JM Madiedo/University of Huelva/YouTube

December 29, 2014 - SPAIN
- A slow-moving meteoroid provided a dramatic spectacle as it streaked more than 1,200 kilometres (745 miles) across Spain during the new king's Christmas Eve speech.

While King Felipe was delivering his inaugural Christmas message, a different kind of show was taking place in skies above Spain with an earth-grazing fireball travelling diagonally from the south-east of Spain to the north-west of the country.

The 100kg (220 pound) rock with a diameter of just one metre entered Spanish skies at the border between the regions of Murcia and Almeria and left the country via the south of Galicia about a minute later.

It then bounced off the Earth's atmosphere shortly after heading out over the Atlantic ocean.

Travelling at 80,000km an hour, the meteoroid's passage was "a tremendously unusual phenomenon", the University of Huelva's resident meteorite expert José María Madiedo told Spanish daily ABC.

While the meteoroid - which originated in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter - wasn't the brightest ever seen above Spain, its slow-moving nature made for great viewing.

"There were people who saw the meteoroid while they were driving and who had time to park, and get out of their car, and there was still light in the sky," Madiedo said.

For those who managed to see the event, the rock "looked like a star of Bethlehem", the astronomer added.  - The Local.

FIRE IN THE SKY: Meteor Spotted Over Northumberland, United Kingdom!

© Richard Thomas

December 29, 2014 - UNITED KINGDOM
- A Gazette reader took this photo of what he presumes is a meteorite or meteor in the sky above north Northumberland early on Christmas Day.

Did anyone else spot it?

The picture, by Richard Thomas, was taken at 8.30am yesterday on the beach between Newton and Embleton before sunrise and features an object Mr Thomas described as 'very distinct'.

It is perhaps likely to be a meteor rather than a meteorite as a meteor is a small particle from an asteroid or comet orbiting the sun that is observed as it burns up in the Earth's atmosphere - a shooting star, while a meteorite is one that survives its passage through the Earth's atmosphere and hits the surface.

It is not the only thing that has attracted attention to our skies after spectacular Northern Lights displays were spotted from Craster and then from Bamburgh earlier this week.

Known as the Aurora Borealis, the light show is caused by charged particles colliding in the Earth's atmosphere and is seen above the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemisphere.

Before a display, electrons and protons are hurled from the sun's atmosphere and are blown towards the Earth by the solar wind.

Often these particles are then deflected by the Earth's magnetic field, but as it is weaker at either pole, some particles enter the atmosphere and collide with gas particles. - Northumberland Gazette.

FIRE IN THE SKY: Comet 15P/Finlay Explodes In Brightness - Will Pass By Planet Mars On December 23rd And 24th!

December 23, 2014 - SPACE
- Last week, faint Comet 15P/Finlay exploded in brightness.

You still can't see it with the naked eye, but the comet's surge from magnitude +11 to +8.7 suddenly makes it an attractive target for medium to large backyard telescopes.

UK astrophotographer Damian Peach took this picture (above) using 20-inch optics on Dec. 19th.

"There were some nice jets present following the outburst," he says.

Consider this perfect timing: The outburst occurred just as the comet is passing by Mars. On Dec. 23rd and 24th, 15P/Finlay will be 1/6th of a degree from the Red Planet.

FIRE IN THE SKY: "It Was Like Daytime Almost" - Calgary Photographer Captures Fireball Over Night Skies Of Mount Rundle!

Calgary photographer Brett Abernethy captured a shot of an apparent fireball streaking across the night sky in Banff over
Mount Rundle on Saturday, December 20, 2014.   © Brett Abernethy / Calgary Herald

December 22, 2014 - CALGARY, CANADA
- Calgary photographer Brett Abernethy was out in Banff shooting aurora over the night sky early Saturday when he captured what appeared to be a fireball zipping over the mountains.

Abernethy said he and a fellow photographer were set up at Johnson Lake taking a shot of Mount Rundle at around 1:22 a.m. when the sky lit up.

"It was like daytime almost. It fragmented into three pieces. We were both in awe. Then I realized my shot was exposing as it was going on," he said, adding he used a 40-second exposure.

When he looked at the photo he snapped with his Canon 5D Mark III, using a Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 lens, he was pleasantly surprised to see he'd captured a bright light streaking over the mountains.

"I got to a whole level of excitement," he said. "When I was a kid, I remember the light, the sky lighting up once. But I didn't see anything like that, that's for sure."

Abernethy says he went online to see if anyone else caught a glimpse of the light show, but couldn't find any chatter about the event, adding it was early in the morning and many Banff residents may have been asleep.

Calgary astronomer Alan Dyer said in an e-mail that by looking at the photo, it appears to be a fireball, "and a bright one at that - a natural meteor entering the atmosphere and burning up."

It's not clear from the photo if fragments might have survived to reach the earth, Dyer added.  - Calgary Herald.

FIRE IN THE SKY: More Meteor Scribblings In The Sky - Strange Glowing Cloud Spotted In The Skies Above Siberia?!

December 22, 2014 - SIBERIA, RUSSIA
- A strange-shaped cloud materialised in the early morning sky above Siberia just minutes after the launch of a rocket sending satellites into space. Glowing orange as it was touched by the rays of the rising sun, it cast a ghostly spectre against the clear winter sky.

For a while it was unclear what had caused the trails of vapour over the southern Altai region, with many even speculating about the possibility of UFOs.

WATCH: Strange lights over Siberia.

However, while no official confirmation has been given, it was almost certainly made by parts of the rocket falling to earth as it powered into orbit. Indeed experts have said that it is consistent with the second stage disengagement.

The Altai region is close to where the Proton-M rocket blasted off from its launch site in nearby Kazakhstan, with space debris regularly landing there. It was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrone at 6.16am on December 15, carrying a Yamal-401 satellite.

A number of residents in the city of Barnaul, on the banks of the River Ob, took photos and videos of the subsequent glowing patterns, and uploaded them to social media. Extremely cold weather is required to create the clouds, with vapour from the hot falling debris meeting the freezing air.

Natalia Pavlova, the head of the Barnaul planetarium, said the patterns could have been caused by the rocket launch, but stressed falling meteors was another explanation.

Residents in Siberia and Urals are becoming used to seeing mysterious lights in the sky.
Meteorites, missiles, a plane crash, and even extra-terrestrial activity were among the many theories put forward to explain the incident on November 14. - Siberian Times.

FIRE IN THE SKY: Fireball Seen Shooting Across The Skies Over Colorado!

© KOAA

December 17, 2014 - COLORADO, UNITED STATES
- A possible fireball was seen west of Colorado Springs above Mountain Shadows around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The picture was sent to News5 by viewer, Lisa.

Meteorologist Stephen Bowers said it's likely a meteor.

He said, "There are reports of this being seen around Denver, too.

It's actually under review by the American Meteor Society to see if it can be classified as a fireball."

Stephen tells us the Geminids meteor shower hit its peak last weekend, but we could still see some meteors linger.

The Geminids is one of the more active meteor showers each year, known for slow-moving, bright meteors.

NASA sees 208 Fireballs on December 16

Every night, a network of NASA all-sky cameras scans the skies above the United States for meteoritic fireballs. Automated software maintained by NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office calculates their orbits, velocity, penetration depth in Earth's atmosphere and many other characteristics.

On Dec. 16, 2014, the network reported 208 fireballs.

In this diagram of the inner solar system, all of the fireball orbits intersect at a single point--Earth. The orbits are color-coded by velocity, from slow (red) to fast (blue). [Larger image] [movies]

FIRE IN THE SKY: "Do Look Quite Mysterious" - Meteor Fireball Photographed Breaking Apart Over Leicestershire!

© Sam Green

December 16, 2014 - ENGLAND
- Sky watcher Sam Green thought he'd struck gold when he captured this incredible image of what looks like meteors speeding towards Earth.

The 27-year-old builder, from Countesthorpe, was doing a job for his boss in Kibworth when he spotted mysterious goings on high in the clear, blue sky.

He said: "Where we were is on a flight path and you often get planes and helicopters flying over from Leicester Airport, which are interesting to look at and my camera is never far away from me.

"There was this brilliant, clear blue sky on Thursday and it was about 2pm when I happened to look up and noticed these two peculiar objects with vapour trails.

"They were close together and looked like they were falling straight down.

"When I looked away and looked back they were gone. I thought 'that's strange'.

"But about half an hour later, I looked again and saw four of them, so I thought 'right, I'm going to take a picture' and grabbed my camera."

Sam managed to take three shots of the unidentified flying objects.

He said: "They seemed quite close together and it looked like two of them almost collided as they crossed paths.

"I thought these can't possibly be aircraft because of the speed and trajectory."

Sam posted his photographs on Facebook and e-mailed them to the Leicester Mercury in the hope someone could tell him what they were.

He said: "I'd been reading about a meteor show we could expect to see in the next few days and thought what else could it be.

We contacted Dr Nigel Bannister, senior lecturer at the University of Leicester's Department of Physics and Astronomy for his thoughts.

He said: "I've a fair amount of experience in atmospheric phenomena and observational astronomy.

"They are very interesting images and do look quite mysterious.

"But, for me, the streaks look very much like contrails, or vapour trails, and I suspect they are high altitude aircraft.

"They're most likely military jets - it's not unusual for a number of aircraft to be travelling together but not necessarily in tight formation.

"It's the altitude that makes the angle look strange."

He added: "It's unlikely they are meteors, or parts of a meteor, simply because the trails are not uniform.

"It's unusual to spot meteors during the daytime in a clear sky.

"They also have a very brilliant fireball and a leave a long vapour trail, just like the one filmed coming down in Eastern Russia a few years ago ."

Dr Bannister also considered the possibility of falling space hardware.

"I don't think so" he said. "I've checked the re-entry logs, and there was nothing predicted, or otherwise observed, for a space reentry for that date."

"Also, these don't look like reentering fragments in any case. Those typically have very brilliant 'heads' followed by a trail, like the recent Russian 'Progress' vehicle - so I'm pretty confident it's aircraft."

Sam said: "Whatever they were, they were fascinating to watch and it certainly sparked a bit of interest and debate."  - Leicester Mercury.

FIRE IN THE SKY: Signs Of The Times - Summary Of Meteor Fireballs In 2013! [STUNNING VIDEO]

January 29, 2014 - SPACE - The following video is a 6 minute compilation of footage of the major meteor sightings from 2013, as well as a list of many more fireball events over the course of last year.

A meteoroid fell to Earth on February 15, 2013 streaking some 20 to 30 kilometers above
the city of Chelyabinsk, Russia.

Since at least 2005, there has been an alarming increase in the number and frequency of meteors and fireballs in the skies of our planet and meteorite detonations and impacts on the surface, and the trend seems to indicate that these events will continue to increase in number and severity.

By combining these events in the below video, we hope to offer our readers a more vivid and shocking picture of what is really going on above our heads, and counteract the efforts of the mainstream media to downplay what is clearly a very serious threat to the future of human civilization.

We urge you to share this video far and wide.
