appeared in the promenade along Beach Boulevard, the latest damage to
city infrastructure inflicted by this winter's El Niño storms, Pacifica officials said Thursday. |
February 6, 2016 - CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES - Pounding surf has helped open up another sinkhole along Pacifica’s shoreline as the city was still working to repair another just blocks away.
The new sinkhole is 25-feet long, three feet wide, and four feet deep.
Public works crews had to wait for low tide to make repairs, but were able to eventually fill the hole.
“Waves are so strong that the staff can’t get close enough to assess the damage,” Pacifica City Manager Lorie Tinfow said.
Terri Jackson lives just steps away from the new damage at Beach Boulevard and Paloma Avenue.
“I did wake up this morning to my triple dresser in my bedroom shaking a bit, and my son came to my door knocking on my door, and said, ‘mom, did you hear that?'” Jackson said.
A sinkhole opened up along a sidewalk in Pacifica last month due to waves from El Nino storms pounding the seawall.
