December 2, 2015 - INDONESIA
- Following the finding of tens of thousands of dead fish, resulting in a pungent smell, along Ancol Beach in North Jakarta on Monday, environmental campaign group Greenpeace has cited three possible causes for the phenomenon.

The first possibility, Greenpeace campaigner Arifsyah Nasution said on Tuesday, related to the accumulation of water from contaminated rivers on the northern coast due to rain.

"For example, water from the Ciliwung River contains organic materials and [dangerous waste] B3. During rain, this water can accumulate in the estuary, which is Jakarta Bay," Arifsyah said as quoted by kompas.com.

He added that the situation could lead to a lack of oxygen for fish. "The fish would be unable to survive due to the change in environment happening too fast," said Arifsyah.

He also said that the increased growth of a certain algae species during the rainy season could have led to competition for oxygen between plants and fish.

The third possibility, he added, was due to the B3 that came from several industries nestled in the coastal area of North Jakarta.

"The waste thrown out by [these industries] and the circulation in the seawater could lead to the death of Jakarta Bay fish," said Arifsyah, adding that the group needed to conduct further research to make a conclusive confirmation.

Previously, Jakarta Police spokesperson Comr. Edi Guritno said that he had received reports from residents regarding seawater anomalies near Ancol Beach prior to the discovery of the dead fish.

"According to locals, the sea has two types of water: clear and brown-colored," said Edi on Monday, adding that samples of the dead fish and seawater would be examined at the city's fisheries laboratory.

According to a report by kompas.com, the police and Ancol Beach management conducted a clean-up operation from 7 a.m. on Monday to transport the dead fish, which consisted of various species, to a nearby incinerator. - The Jakarta Post.

MASS FISH DIE-OFFS: Massive Fish Kill Spotted Along Glen Cove Creek, Glen Cove, New York - Experts Baffled?!

December 1, 2015 - NEW YORK, UNITED STATES
- Long Island waters have seen yet another massive fishkill, with fish seen floating near the shores of Glen Cove Creek — many dead, but others just fighting to survive.

“There’s a lot of fish in a small area, they use up the oxygen and they’re fighting to breathe,” Lt. Lawrence Demmler, of the Glen Cove Harbor Patrol, said.

Demmler estimates well over a hundred thousand bunker fish have crowded the creek this year, opening their gills and mouths to desperately try to draw in more oxygen.

Dozens of fish have already died, with some sinking to the bottom. Others have floated to the shore to be picked apart by seagulls, CBS2’s Elise Finch reported.

“They’re just waiting for an easy meal,” Demmler said of the seagulls. “They’ve been doing it all morning.”

This recent die-off follows another massive fish die-off earlier this year on Long Island’s East End, where tens of thousands of dead fish were seen floating along the shores of the Peconic Bay.

Environmentalists believe the Glen Cove die-off is being caused by more than a lack of oxygen in the water, WLNY TV 10/55’s Long Island Bureau Chief Richard Rose reported.

“We could do more testing of the water, we could understand the science better of what’s happening and we could put into action keeping people accountable,” Adrienne Esposito, of the Citizen’s Campaign for the Environment, said.

Esposito said the state needs to go after tankers spilling oil in the Long Island Sound. She also said the state should target leaking shoreline septic tanks and the excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers that decrease oxygen levels.

“People aren’t doing enough, I don’t know if I’m doing enough — I’m still using fertilizer on my lawn,” Dean Yoder, of Glen Cove, said.

Officials hope the colder temperatures will help boost oxygen levels and prevent another massive die-off. - CBS.

November 29, 2015 - SPAIN - You'd be forgiven for thinking these images have come straight from a Sci-Fi film.

But these are pictures of a real giant squid, caught by fisherman off the coast of Spain.

The beast measured 33 foot and weighed in at a staggering 330lbs.

Believed to be a female, the squid was caught in the nets the fishermen were trawling at a depth of almost 500m.

Speaking of their surprising monster catch, one of the fishing boat crew said: "To see a specimen of this size can intimidate anybody, even those who fish every day and have spent a lifetime at sea." The animal has now been frozen and sent to experts to experts at The Study and Protection of Marine Species in Northern Spain.

The president of the organisation said of their new arrival: "It is an extraordinary example, one of the biggest we have seen in the last few years."

The intimidating creatures can grow to impressive sizes but recent estimates but the maximum size at 43 feet for a female and 33 feet for males.

Reports of creatures as big 66 feet circulate amongst seasoned fisherman but have never been scientifically verified.

Until recently, little was known about the creature believed to be the real face of the mythical kraken, a sea-monster blamed by sailors for sinking ships off Norway in the 18th century. But in 2013, scientists managed to film one of the mysterious creatures in their natural habitat for the first time.

DISASTER PRECURSORS: Animal Behavior - Dead Whale Found On The Shoreline At Inverkip, Scotland?!

November 29, 2015 - SCOTLAND
- A dead whale has been found washed up on the shoreline in Inverkip.

The massive marine mammal was found beached at Kip Marina just after noon today.

A passer-by contacted the coastguard after initially fearing it was a capsized boat.

But when the lifeboat and coastguard teams arrived they realised it was in fact a whale.

As a result, teams from Police Scotland, Inverclyde Council, the Scottish SPCA and the Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme attended the scene.

A cordon is in place around whale before it is removed from the scene tomorrow.

A spokesman for the coastguard said: "Someone phoned us as they thought that a boat had capsized.

"When our crews arrived they discovered it was a big Minke whale that had died.

"We notified all the relevant teams and the police cordoned the area off.

"The whale has been secured before it is taken away tomorrow."

Sergeant Bob Adam of Greenock Police it was a joint operation.

He said: "We cordoned off the whale for public safety.

"A marine biologist will analyse the whale before it is removed from the area." - Greenock Telegraph.

MASS FISH DIE-OFFS: Disaster Precursors - Mass Strandings Of Venomous Jellyfish Wash Up On Cornish Beaches, UK?!

November 29, 2015 - UNITED KINGDOM
- Mass strandings of highly venomous jellyfish have been reported from Cornish beaches in the past week.

Huge rafts of the mauve stinger jellyfish (Pelagia noctiluca) have been reported around the coast of Cornwall.

Rich Mulryne spotted thousands of the creatures at Poldhu beach on November 19, and there have also been reports from Tolcarne beach, Newquay, and Sennen.

Mauve stingers, an oceanic jellyfish that glows spectacularly in the dark, are the most venomous species in our waters. They grow up to four inches across, according to the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, but can reach 16in in northern waters. The deep bell is pinkish purple in colour and is speckled with wart-like spots that are actually stinging cells.

They have four frilly arms and eight trailing tentacles measuring up to six feet long.

The trust warned: "This jellyfish can have a potent sting (as a member of the trust found out surfing the other day) so be careful not to handle them - the stinging capsules still function automatically when an object comes into contact and even dead jellyfish can still sting."

Dr Priscilla Licandro from the Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science in Plymouth said the jellyfish were common in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean said: "It wouldn't kill people, but if you are allergic it would cause trouble."

In 2007 a 10-mile square bloom of mauve stingers killed 100,000 salmon at a fish farm in Northern Ireland, causing damage estimated at £1million.

The jellyfish have few predators, apart from some turtles and some fish.

Population explosions, or blooms, used to occur roughly every 10-12 years and last for about four years, but the creatures were now common all year round, Dr Licandro said.

We think that this is the effect of the rise in sea temperatures recorded over the last few years, she said.

She said that for this species it was recommended to not use vinegar, freshwater or alcohol but rather to rinse with seawater or salty water and use cold or an icebag on the affected area.

The Marine Conservation Society said that as well as formal reports of mauve stinger jellyfish and the harmless "by the wind sailors" from several Cornish beaches, they had also been encountered in Devon and Dorset. - Western Morning News.

MASS FISH DIE-OFFS: Disaster Precursors - Thousands Of Dying Starfish Mysteriously Wash Up On Moreton Island, Australia?!

A rare mass stranding of starfish on Moreton Island which left a tour guide and his group stunned

November 26, 2015 - AUSTRALIA
- Thousands of dying starfish have mysteriously washed up on an island in what has been deemed a rare natural phenomenon.

Tour guide Rhett Ericsen-Miller stumbled upon the stranded sealife with a tour group near Tangalooma Wrecks, a fleet of shipwrecks, in southeast Queensland's Moreton Island.

The video he uploaded on Facebook has amassed nearly 20 thousand views, while scientists are unsure of exactly what caused the mass stranding.

The vision shows a long stretch of the island's shore lined with the fish, making it impossible to throw them all back into the water.

A Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service spokeswoman told Brisbane Times it could have been caused by strong winds or a dramatic change in water temperatures.

'As far as we are aware it's a natural phenomenon, and at this stage we have no information to indicate otherwise,' she said.

University of Queensland marine biologist Kathy Townsend, whose research centre is on the island, also believed humans were not behind the phenomenon.

'It could have been a case that they were all together, that they were spawning and then conditions changed and they all got washed up on shore.'

However staff from Maritime Safety Queensland were forced to remove parts of the nearby Tangalooma Wrecks earlier this month following concerns it may have been riddled with asbestos. - Daily Mail.

MASS FISH DIE-OFF: "It's A Little Fishy" - Massive Fish Kill On Sanibel Beach, Florida?!

Fish kill on Sanibel Island

November 20, 2015 - FLORIDA, UNITED STATES
- A massive fish kill on Sanibel Island could keep beachgoers out of the water and off of the sand.

Before walking out on the beach at Gulfside City Park Wednesday night, you could certainly smell that something fishy was going on as thousands of dead fish have washed ashore.

When Erin Neitzlt and her friend Joyce Nardo made their way to the Gulfside Beach, they were looking for a little getaway.

"I just like the sea air. It smells good out here, listening to the waves. It's a good way to relax out here and beat some stress," said Neitzlt. "To relax, hear the waves, I love it here."

They likely didn't expect to find thousands of dead fish strewn across the beach, which could likely be the result of red tide.

The latest reports released Wednesday by Florida Fish and Wildlife indicate the algae bloom, which is common in November, has made its way to Southwest Florida.

WATCH: Sanibel crews begin clearing fish kill carnage.

"It's a little fishy, but it's refreshing," said Joice Nardo.

Fish kills can also be caused by sudden increase or decrease in water temperatures, as some fish species are sensitive to these types of environmental changes.

Erin and Joyce aren't letting a few fish kill their moonlit relaxation time on the beach.

"When I heard what was going on, it didn't make a difference. I still put my chair right here in the sand so I can listen to the waves," said Neitzlt.

"It doesn't matter what's on the beach, I'm just going to listen to the waves and smell the ocean air."

NBC2 has made calls in to several local marine life experts to confirm exactly what caused all these fish to wash up dead here on the beach. - NBC.

GLOBAL ALERT: The Northern And Southern Hemisphere Sea Ice Anomalies - Major Arctic Sea Ice Story Lurking, But Is Anyone Looking?!

May 07, 2014 - ARCTIC -  There is a huge event being forecasted this year by the CFSV2, and I don't know if anyone else is mentioning this. For the first time in over a decade, the Arctic sea ice anomaly in the summer is forecast to be near or above normal for a time!

While it has approached the normals at the end of the winter season a couple of times because of new ice growth, this signals something completely different - that multiyear growth means business - and it shows the theory on the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) is likely to be on target. Once it flips, this red herring of climate panic will be gone. Global and Southern Hemisphere anomalies are already unmentionable since the former is well above normal and the latter is routinely busting daily records.

The biggest minimum anomalies are in the summer since this flipped, and the only peaks came very close to the height of winters once this melting was underway.

Now look at what the CFSV2 forecasted for 2012.

The brief positive anomaly hit early, but for the summer it's well below normal. In 2013, it's the same, though not as far.

But this year it's forecast to be around normal in August!

This is only with a yearly AMO back off. I don't think this is the real deal of the flip yet. But it makes the point that one can correlate the ice in the Arctic with the Atlantic cycle.

If we look at the cold AMO years we can plainly see why this is going on.

The Jamstec model is forecasting water temps this summer to be much colder in the north Atlantic than the map above. but still not cold enough to say this is the permanent flip. It is, however, a sign of what is to come.

It should be obvious as to who is the boss here, and with the warm AMO in its waning years, the Arctic sea ice hysteria will wind up where so many agenda driven items do - on the ash heap of history.

This, if correct, is going to be a huge story. It would be the first summer where Arctic sea ice returned to near normal, indicative of the increase in multiyear ice and what a turn to the colder AMO in the future means! Let's see if anyone else picks up on it.

By the way, this same kind of evolution through the fall and into the winter would lead to another harsh U.S. winter. - Patriot Post.

MASS FISH DIE-OFF: Number Of Farmed Salmon Die At Eastern Shore Aquaculture Plant In Nova Scotia, Canada?!

March 11, 2013 - CANADA - A number of fish at the aquaculture facility in Owl’s Head, N.S., died because of a recent cold snap, says Snow Island Salmon Inc.

A male Atlantic salmon is shown swimming in salt water. (CBC).

The company could not say how many fish died.

The fish deaths have sparked concerns among residents who live in the area, but company manager Robert Taylor said the fish died because of the stormy weather over the past few weeks.

“We’ve had a provincial veterinarian; she was out on the site on Thursday. She took samples of the fish and it’s consistent with what we reported. The fatalities are weather related. They will confirm it later this week,” he said.

“[The fish] have cold water sores. They have net marks on them. When they touch the net and the water temperatures are cold it removes the protective layer and some of the fish continually bumped into the net and that caused their death."

Taylor said the dead fish were taken to a rendering plant.
